I have been a big fan of games like Operation Flashpoint and now that the new ARMA is out, I simply love it. For those of you who don't know, ARMA II is a military simulation that tries to create a virtual military experience that is extremely realistic and gives you access to a shitload of military weaponry. The AI is also very good mostly, but at other times it can be broken but since the patch, I rarely see this. I also like the scale of the game, the world is very big and the NPCs and animals inhabiting it do things seen in real life. My only major gripes with the games are that the graphics aren't that great(but the animation is fantastic) and there are numerous bugs and glitches. Have any of you guys tried it yet?

What rig have you got this running on and does it look good?

I have 8800 GTS 320 + AMD 5000+ with 2 gigs of DDR2 6400 and am wondering if it will take it.

I think I've seen this run on the 9600GSO which is basically a re-branded 8800 GTS and it ran decent... good enough, anyway. Expect pretty much constant sub-30 frame rate though. I think I'd actually be most concerned about your processor...

Buy me a new one then please :)

I downloaded the 2.8 gig demo off steam and it ran okay in 1920x1200 with AA turned off and Normal settings. It was fun but not as engaging as COD4 which has set the bar pretty high. As for it being "realistic" well, how realistic can a FPS be really...

i have this game with an 8800gts and 3ghz dual core, definitely more processor intensive than graphics but runs great on my rig and fucking amazing game. tanks artillery jets helis hummers parachuting into towns commandeering civilian vehicles asking civilians if they saw any commie scum, basically as close to real war as a game can get. communication and teamwork is a must, go rambo and you die. if you enjoy war games get this shit now
edit: also a mission editor so you can set up your own missions if you want, or do dumb shit http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=khG8pVEmzO4

the first 2 times i played i thought it was boring because i just played like any other fps, once you get a good group of medics engineers armor air support and artillery the game is fun as all hell though. you just need to play with people that know what theyre doing
