I think it's a possibility for a cure, but after seeing tens of experiments that were going somewhat well, and then never heard from them again, I have lost some faith in a cure for now, I really hope they can prove me wrong though....
the bad thing about HIV/AIDS is that is't not just a disease, like with some sti's the ones who have it, are not seen as "victims" but as "guilty people" like they DESERVED it, it's so sad, and I know it's a generalisation, but sadly is very very true.

i don't think there's ever much sympathy for STI sufferers, sadly. tell your friends in a serious manner you've been diagnosed with herpes, expect laughter.

that's my point, when someone gets a cold, no one tells them "that's what you deserve for not wearing enough clothes" , when someone gets a heart attak, nobody tells them "that's what you deserve for eating so much shit/not taking care of yourself" but you get an sti and everyone tells you how much you deserved it.... -_-

To be fair it's a lot easier avoiding STDs than colds or heart attacks. There's a lot more factors that go into those than just WEAR A CONDOM (yes i know this doesn't always work but jesus you should at least TRY)

not saying people deserve it i'm just saying that was a really bad argument you put together

yeah but actually sti contraction is almost always linked with lifestyle choices (save the occasional blood transfusion or mcdonalds toilet seat). people with diabetes II get no sympathy either, nor do bodybuilders with cardiac trouble or CEO's with ulcers.

actually people in commited relationships who contract an STI usually recieve sympathy, as does the doctor that has a stroke from working 70 hour weeks

Yeah, but people assume that when you get an sti then you are a slut who's sleeping around with everyone, when some of them can be transmittd by kissing or even touching something in a changing room...

I'm all for gene therapy as long as it's not abused. You mention being able to take an autistic kid into the doctor's office, then coming out with someone completely normal. It would be great if that were possible, but beyond that point things get morally iffy. Would it be right for an expectant mother to choose how their kid looks and acts?

We are a community without borders and without colours, the spirit and diversity of the gaming community is one that should be looked up to, a spirit and diversity other groups should strive toward.

Gene 'Therapy' I suppose is the key word here, so I'm guessing not. That said, if it's used in a therapeutic manner (or to avoid children's disease), then I'm sure it'd be alright. Using it as 'Therapy' or maybe disease prevention sounds alot better than making THE PUREBLOODED MASTER RACE.
