I'm looking for some photos of some beautiful Video Game towns. 2d or 3d... There was one in particular I was looking for from what I think was the beginning of the 2nd disc or end of the 1st disc of Legend of Dragoon. It was a town by the sea....I can't find pictures of it anywhere.

Anyway, any kinds of towns count honestly. I'm just looking for some drawing and writing inspiration. =)

The cities in Oblivion have nice architecture.

I always really liked all of the Final Fantasy games that used pre-rendered backgrounds.  The environments were always amazing.  Something was lost in the 3-D games later on, what with pesky camera angles, etc.

Legend of Mana was a master at this, with some really nice looking graphics like watercolor paintings.

I was taken away by some of the villages and cities in Dragon Quest VIII. One of my favorites was the very religious town on an island which had a HUGE statue of the Godess in it.

Also, Kamiki Village in Okami was really pretty, and I still think there should be a nomad city which consists of several building-sized vehicles connected to each other through bridges that drives through a desert. That would be awesome.

Legend of Mana has wonderful towns. I still like the towns in Xenogears, for being so individually different from each other and full of life.

For my money, Final Fantasy 8 has always had the most beautiful location design. I've played other games that had their moments, but virtually every screen of Final Fantasy 8 was outstanding. Despite the game's inherent flaws, I can still play the game with frequency for this very reason. I've always found it unusually stimulating for a videogame.

Nice looking or expansive towns were the main reason I played RPGs so much. A big qualifier for whether I bought one or not was if I knew whether it had a town or city in the snow or not.

yeah, I think that's a big reason I bought rpgs too. FFs always have spectacular environmental design.

Insurgency has some pretty amazing middle eastern towns and cities. http://www.insmod.org/ but some of the maps have cheap tricks like arches and balconies while the cities themselves are actually really bland

Eternal Sonata!
Can't think of a game with better visual direction than that.
Example: The town of Forte. Simply enchanting~

Bioshock's under water city looked nice till you got in there and realized it was falling apart and ugly ass splicer running around.
