Hi.

Heres the newest version of my game Silent Insnanity 2. Lots has been done the biggest being the fact that I redid EVERY "Skill" in the game (of playable characters) so that they appear on screen as they are performing them so like if your main dood uses "Death Acrobat" in a fight he actually flies at the enemy to perform it, no more random slashes that come out of nowhere. The same goes for spells, the person will make an appearance etc. So all characters that will join you now have a full skillset up until the end of this demo INCLUDING characters that only join your team for a short time. If the "Mason character seems to be missing skills then that means you didn't explore and you didn't collect his random gadgets or w/e. For example, one of them is a Harpoon Machine Gun in the Ship.... You'll know when you see them.

I've had some peeps test it out and had to correct a lot of shit so I'm hoping that this one is top shape for some of you doods to play. Leave some feedback on what you think/ what can be improved etc.

Download good to go.

Ps: It says 2.0 on the RAR but the folder (and files) inside are actually of 4.0.

Enjoy.

Just a thought: Maybe you should show more in your screenshots than 1 liners and "....". Maybe, like, something that will make people go "Snap, ai' gun' download this. Keisha! Come look at dis!" Y'know? Maybe some information about the game? Just being nitpicky, though.
How about no!? You are an idiotic version of a baboon.

Looks violent. I'd try it but I don't have rm2k3 right now. When I get it back, I'll give this a play.

Nothing is needed to play this game other then the files in the rar. You don't need rm2k/3k to playing
This just unzip and play.

Also I'm not looking for help in making a post. If. You don't like what I have then
don't play.  I don't feel like creating a great big release thread only to have it deleted in
A month or two. Sorry.

Any comments on the GAME itself are welcome however.

So I'm browsing GW and I'm surprised to come across the topic [DEMO] Silent Insanity 2 (Version 4.0). Upon seeing this I immediately think to myself "Son of a bitch it's a demo!  I HATE demos, when's the game finally gonna be done!?"  But then I went into topic and downloaded it anyway.  It's Silent Insanity after all. I love Silent Insanity, and SI2 2.0 played like a dream.

Sadly SI2 4.0 does not play like a dream.  You need to get some new beta testers.  The ones you've got clearly ain't doing their jobs.

Right after the first boss battle that "name this character" screen pops up (just my opinion, but the re-naming thing is a bad idea and adds nothing to the game) and and the confirm and cancel keys no longer do anything.  I can move the cursor around but I can't select anything and thus have no way to continue the game, a gamebreaker if I ever saw one.  While we're on the subject of bugs I'd also like to point out that those snow peach items you've scattered around use the graphic for an old lady.

On to general comments:
-I tried to open the game up with rm2k3 and got a map tree data corruption error, which wasn't so bad in 2.0 but was quite irritating in 4.0 as I could have fixed the above mentioned bug myself and kept playing.

-The "tutorial" was mildly amusing but it was also a bit of an immersion breaker.

-I'm assuming you have yet to edit the animation for James' "skewer" attack, as the sprites in that attack animation look nothing like James.

-I noticed you exchanged Chantal for Aerial in the note for James cut scene. Since I have no idea what role either of them will have later in the story I can't honestly say whether I think that was a good idea or not, but I felt I should comment on it.

-For the opening scene of the game when you recap the end of Silent Insanity 1 I would really appreciate it if you would bring the courtyard back.  That jungle just looks weird to me.

I'm sure I'd have more to say had I been able to play further than I did.  I'll check back in a couple of days.

No wonder you got a map tree error.

First of all, this game was made with RM2K, not RM2K3.

Secondly, he protected the game so you can't open it up in RM2K anyway.

I wanted to play this game, but I didn't find a link.
However I didn't notice someone posted a working link in old SI2 topic,
I later downloaded it and played it.
I didn't like it very much, I think SI1 was better,
or maybe that's just me.

Damn, I can't remember the spoiler code, I had to tell something.

Hey everyone. Sorry about that effin game breaker, that was totally a last second thing i added as a joke but it messed up so i took it out completely. I tested about an hour and a half of the game and everything is working now. And the reason for the missing graphics with the attacks is that rm2k utillity added the wrong files, same with the old lady for the snow peaches... thats messed lol.

Umm so, about the opening scene I thought about bringing back the courtyard but the original one just looked effin aweful.. The forest actually looks like... something at least. For the animations like i mentioned above it was an rm2k utillity error.. I had my game tested before it was compressed etc thats why i didnt catch that bug.

This version has everything working as i tested it myself after i had compressed everything.

And Nightowl, just fyi, you probably got the super old version from the other link, the one posted above here has a bunch of extra shit like I redid some of the dialog and sprites and totally redesigned all the skills in case you wanted to try it again or w/e. Also I've added quite a bit more of the story since the last demo..

Thanks for the info btw wytsfs.

*sigh* I'm having flashbacks to when you released the first Silent Insanity; the moment you'd fix one thing something else would break.

Missing charset: a Steven with armor.  Kills the game when you try to enter the inn.  Fortunately for me I can scavenge this file from another game.  So I'll keep playing, and I'll let you know what else I find.

I don't even know why its asking for that since its not even used in this game.. You would totally be #1 though if you could play through and let me know of the bugs so i can make a definite fix and put up a final link to this thing.  I didn't use the utillity to lock all my shit this time so it should open up with rm2k if you have any more issues..

It opens in rm2k3 as well.  I knew that couldn't have been the problem.

Now:

-a Steven with armor is used for the gray haired guy in black sitting at the table.

-you get weird flowers irregardless of what you do what happens with the blue lady in the icy cave .  Good thing I'd played the earlier demos, or I would have missed that.

-not a bug but you've been using the word common when you mean to say come on (or c'mon if the character is speaking lazily) and a few instances of using "your" when it should be "you're".  I'll have to go back through the dialogue to point those out for you.

I'll be back after I finish with these cultists.

Edit: one more thing, just a suggestion actually.  In Quel there's a house with the corpses of a man and two children (Quel side1, Home 4).  After everyone in town has been killed you can go into that house (Death on Ice, Home 4), fight a monster and when it's dead James thinks to himself (I've got to get out of here).  I think that scene would have a better effect had those people had been alive before the monsters and cannibals showed up.

Hey thanks for the feedback! I am at work right now but I will look into what you mentioned tonight
The "common" thing is my bad, I know about it but I only realized I was writing it wrong like
A few weeks ago and haven't been able to change every occurence of it yet..

For the wierd flowers, there will be a small event later and what happens will be determined by what
You did at that part.. Its nothing story related tho just a side thing. I didn't notice you get the same
Item regardlwss tho, ill have to check that.

My bad on the charset, I was pretty sure I didn't use it. My bad, ill have to manually add it from now
On cuz the utillity hates that file for some reason.

Thanks again for helping me out with all this dood.

I found "a Steven with armor.bmp" in the first Silent Insanity game.

I uploaded it here, just add it to the Charset folder:

It's no problem. :)

Now:

-There's a clipping problem with the side and back of the cliff chip you used in the Homicidal Side Quest; you can walk right through/over them.

-Similar clipping problem lets you walk up the walls in the Wax Cave.  Also two of the monsters in Wax Cave4 use the same switch, so if you kill one they both disappear.  That's the monster on the bridge and the one to the left of that one, switch 0434:radscorp3.

-Checking the body in Down the Hill, lower3 triggers a teleport event sending you back to the top of lower---  for some reason.

-Small thing in Hero Inner, the blood splatter graphic below the E is set to Same level as Hero, should be set to below.

-In the Fixed Bridge-Bridge Inner you can walk through the chip you used for the side walls.

-After the final Twitlight event cutscene the character sprites don't get removed.

-The teleport event to the mini garage in Domina is triggerd by the action key rather than when touched.

No more gamebreakers so far.

Edit: And I'm done the demo.  That's all I've found.  :)

You are a gentleman and a scholar. Seriously thanks man.

I am uploading this version with the addition of that stupid charset that was missing but I didn't fix any of the mini bugs you found because I actually added quite a bit since the original demo (which is 4.2) and I don't want to have to test all the new stuff and junk. So I'm just keeping the original rar and just adding the file to it. BUT I did fix all the bugs you mentioned so they will not be an issue when I upload another demo and/or if I just upload the finished game. I'm defs gonna have to go back and fix the common and your/you're but that'll be later.

I was just wondering though If you found all the hidden skills or if maybe I hid them without enough hints to get them.

I'm not gonna spoiler them because there aren't hints here and also I don't know how to use spoiler tags lol.

Bouncer Drive - James
Zero G Buster - James
Harpoon Machine Gun - Mason
Snow Machine - Mason
Super Shocker - Mason
Drill Break - Mason
Summon Concubine - Anise/ Cordelia
Tongue Twister - Anise/ Cordelia

Also I'm not sure if you figured out or not but these skills reguired you to find an item and use it on the character for them to aquire it. Except for Bouncer Drive which you have to get it by talking to someone.... IMO these attacks are the coolest looking. Besides Epiphany which is just tubular.

Anyway Thanks again for all your help, you saved me a LOT of trouble going back through and finding all that junk.

Yes I was able to find all the hidden skills save for Zero G Buster, but that was more due to me not really paying attention on my way through that particular map.  I mean it's in plain sight after all.  I'd have to say that the hardest skill to get would be Bouncer Drive.  The rest are found in a fairly stereotypical rpg manner.  That is to say, they're just laying around waiting for you to stumble across them.  In fact, I'm not entirely sure if I'd count some of those skills as hidden at all.

Anyway it was no problem.  Like I said, I loved Silent Insanity.
