that's weird. You shouldn't have needed it. Which version do you have btw? (which download release?)

I have version 1.1, the file size is about 170mb, and I'm already at the Seaweed Kingdom place.
At first, it said I needed RTPe.exe, but that didn't work, so I just got RPG Maker 2003. Am I playing the wrong version?

there's a newer version out which you should get. Save files are transferable. Just follow the instructions.

A newer version? What's wrong with the version I have? And if the newer version is necessary, where can I get it?

Well... I'm having problems installing the latest version... Is there a big difference in version 1.2?

Sorry about not answering quick enough, but I was able to get the game to work. What happened was I had tried to run the exe file right through Winrar as described to, and it didn't work out. All I really had to do to get my game to work was just extract the folder and run the game's exe file. I'm currently playing now and it's running fine and I'm in the forest after the crash. I keep dying though, the pirhana's chomp is killing me quickly. I love the game though!

Ohh, that was the problem. I was getting really confused. Are you playing version 1.2?

I'm at the second pipe challenge thing. These are my least favorite part of this whole game, which I adore btw. One of the few RPG maker games I actually enjoy and don't feel like I'm playing an rm2k game with.

But yeah, the problem I've had that had to make me just close the game out was that second pipe challenge. The bug would get into the way of the switch to destroy the block and I couldn't get em out of it, because it's a long path. I could restart the timer but I still had to sit and wait. And restart. And restart. And since it just restarts your position and everything the bugs don't leave the pipe, making for a time wasting experience. If you could fix that for future release so that when you restart, the bugs do too, it'd be much more convenient. It wasn't a difficulty problem, it was just an annoyance. I'll try it again later but it sort of killed my vibe. :P

Oh, I know what you mean. The bugs didn't get reset along with the other events. I'll have it fixed in the next release and mention it here. Sorry about that.

Hmmm, downloaded it and been playing. Pretty decent so far, and I really _really_ like how you have different items you get throughout the game that help break away barriers (hammer, super jump, etc) and allow the player to actually take time backtracking through previous areas to get new items. The Mario-style humor is there and spot on, but the story doesn't seem to be anything special so far (I'm underwater).

Will finish this and post more thoughts.

Oh, the story isn't much, I'll admit that. Well, it's a mario game. I'l glad you're enjoying it so far.

Do you have an alternate way of downloading this? I can't seem to get it to work.

The website seems to be down. We'll switch it if it persists.

Here are the two parts.

I am extremely impressed by the quality and attention to detail in this game. The dialogue is pretty much spot on and is very much like what can be found in Paper Mario, so kudos for hitting that nail on the head. =)
