the special effects look pretty good and tbh thats why I see a lot of actiony movies in theaters, everything look so much better on the big screen.

with movies like The Legend of Bagger Vance for example, theres no reason to see that in theaters unless you like seeing the golf grass up close and personal, or you absolutely can't wait to see it(which idk why you would it's kind of a boring movie but some of the characters were pretty good). then again I generally like sci-fi more than anything so yeah.

it's not like anyone went to see Transformers for the story because that was probably one of the most hokiest stories i've ever had to put up with, and its even worse in Transformers 2. the characters were incredibly forgettable and the only thing I remember was how awesome the special effects were.

it'll be same way with 2012.

i know 2012 isn't going to have a plot either but i don't want to go to a theater because of "welp!! cool CGI effects!" i guess i take movies too seriously to "appreciate" bad writing at the expense of high budget computer graphics robots

This film, like all CGI-fests just looks total wank, and I honestly can't see how anybody would want to watch it. It's cinematic cancer.

see fig. 1  "Transformers"

see fig 2. "Transformers 2"

But 2012 doesn't have robots. (that I can tell)

Sorry, but I have absolutely no reason to see this film if all it has is CGI of special effects, and no CGI of cool animated robots.

In complete seriousness, it makes all the difference in the world.

I dunno what Swordofkings said it's probably annoying though, but I did catch a good point about how some movies are just not worth seeing in theaters at all. I'm kind of depressed about EPIC MOVIE etc but comedy films are kind of useless to watch in the theatre and if it has lots of SFX then it probably is some epic movie bs anyway. Not that comedy movies can't look good but as whats his face on Mr. Show said adding fancy sets to a comedy skit adds absolutely nothing, it's not going to make it funnier or anything. So what I'm saying is movie theaters are pretty much designed for big stupid movies like this

wasn't 2012 the sequel to 2001 btw? or that random korean movie

You really, really shouldn't. Some movies just simply aren't meant to be taken seriously.

Movies like 2012 should only have one goal. Entertain. A developed plot and characters are a nice plus, but that's not what people going to see this movie for.

Which would be true, if 2012 didn't lOOK like it was supposed to be taken seriously.

Like I agree, Gi Joe man, ain't no citizen kane, it don't even look like it supposed to be no Orson Welles. 2012 does.

I have seen the trailer and before this movie I have known this already when I am searching for some Mayan culture and I really wish it will not happen in real life because it seems scary

It gonna happen, it's pretty much solidified and backed up with cold hard proof.

I hope this movie makes 2012 the next Y2K.  I know people who are already freaked out by the YouTube videos and Discovery Channel specials.
keep posting...
