What the fuck does it matter what hte box looks like anyway unless you're an interior design guy or something

Mine is hidden in a recess that is under the lip of my computer desk with just enough space to change discs so it could look as bad as everton's new away kit and I wouldn't give a shit. If I got burgled it'd be pretty unlikely that they would spot it. If we're talking hypothetically though, the burgular would probably break his back carrying my 5kg original PS3 down my stairs whilst the owner of a slim would come home to find a square of dust where their £250 piece of kit once was.

Well you're not are you. Don't you advertise nintendo for a living?

But yeah I think the only people who care what a console LOOKS like (not will this fit in my cupboard???) are people who call their rooms spaces

Even if you are, Kezay, it really doesn't matter to me how it looks like. Seriously.

I'm probably going to get one. I already own a PS3, but really, 300$ ain't too big of a dent in my budget.
Considering the 30+ games I own for the PS3 already, I'd say I've spent quite a lot more on games than the console so

Don't forget the "MY CONSOLE IS BETTER THAN YOUR CONSOLE" people.

99% of engineers and compsci students with consoles are like that. I am working on my ability to spontaneously vomit all over them when they release their console trash talk. I'm getting there.

Geez, I didn't realize the slim was so wide... I also didn't realize how wide the original PS3 is either, both of which would not be able to fit in my room.

If so, then I'm missing some paychecks.

I never said it was some ultimate fallacy of the platform in general.  After nearly three years these efforts should do Sony some good.  Design is still whack though. "IMO"

you know microsoft fixes this for free right

Although I didn't look into it I'm sure my second hand (and possibly illegal) 360s aren't covered. I still have the second one just in case though.

I used a currency converter online and checked the price of the PS3 & Slim in New Zealand and it's $599NZ but when I converted the currency from Americas price for it it was only $443 so New Zealand is paying over $150 more with this price drop. They dropped it by a hundred as it used to be $699.

Sweet. I think I'll pick up the PS3 slim this fall, much like I didn't acquire a PS2 until the slim model. I think it really pays off to be a generation behind the times (as long as you have the patience and self control).

I swear I am gonna beat the next person who whinges about the backwards compatibility to death with a Playstation 2.

Just buy a used one for cheap, plug it into your TV. Why on earth you'd sell your PS3 at a great personal loss (considering the amount you initially paid for it) just to get a new one that has backwards compatibility at a greater price? It is so beyond me why people adopt these community-whinges that they read on kotaku or whatever then proceed to whinge about something they haven't really thought much about themselves.

[/passive-aggressive-post]

for some people, having a single system hooked up to your television/sound system through a single HDMI cable is more appealing that throwing another system on their shelves that looks horrible when played on an HDTV and has wired controllers. I just looked on ebay and the backwards compatible systems aren't much more than the newer ones so it's really not a big deal and completely understandable why someone would choose to do something like that if they had some PS2 games they wanted to play and some money to spare.  :welp:
