I used to have really serious body image issues because of my skin. It does not tolerate most shower gels, soaps, shampoos and conditioners so I have to be careful when I was that I only wash the areas that are liable to produce smells and give the other areas a lesser going over to reduce exposure to the irritants.

When I was younger I used to be covered in eczema and lesions and now I am proud to say that I am almost over it all. I will rarely have a reaction these days and it has improved my confidence greatly. But in my teenage years I LONGED for perfect skin and I used to be really horrible to people who had better skin than me. I never had a spotty face, it was much the opposite. Dry and flaky. My nickname in high school was "crusty" as a I went through long periods of my face just flaking off and not being able to do anything about it.

Now that I have isolated the causes of these problems I am a lot better off. I wasn't over it when I first took my clothes off for a girl but I did it under the understanding that she didn't care and that helped me feel a lot more confident as well. You will rarely find another human being like that, so if you have something gross or horrible wrong with you and you find someone who loves you who is willing to tolerate it you are very lucky indeed.

It was good in the respect that it acted as an obvious filter for shallow, horrible people. I knew who they were right away because they would always pass comment on my appearence to make themselves feel better. The people worth speaking to disregarded my appearence and it was heart-warming when that happened.

Now I don't have this sign so I end up with a lot more horrible people.

ed, was it just eczema or something else, because the flaky part sounds like you're described psoriasis... Well, I'm glad you have outgrown it because a lot of young people have eczema and some have it all their life, usually accompanied with asthma and seasonal allergies, but some do grow out of it when they reach adulthood, so consider yourself lucky! But I do see how when you look back at it it did provide something positive. That's a great attitude to have.

since this topic is all over the place, Mateui what do you know about Advair? I take advair for my asthma, and it WORKS SO FUCKING GOOD however it is very expensive and I am wondering if the chemicals have any negative effects on the human body. Isn't there some possibility too that some people die taking advair for the first time?

I'm just worried about having to take advair for the rest of my life, but I cannot stop taking it or else I will die. Quite the situation to be in!

No, I already understand. It has nothing to do with me being in a girl's body. I'm proud of my original gender and I'll stay like that. They're clearly a girl's mind in a guy's body. I do feel bad for those who are forced to think like that. But why bash me just because I was making an honest opinion? No matter how much shit you put into your body, it doesn't really change the fact that you're still male.
your right, but your opnion doesn't have to be insulting

My dad literally hates black people.. but most of the time its just kind of funny.

The other day I was watching MMA and a black dude knocked out a white dude in like 15 seconds, the black dude then jumped around the ring in excitement thanking god and shit. My dad then says "Alright!! Give him his banana and put him back in his fuckin cage!"

Yeah it's wrong, but fuck I just had to laugh man

I once went on oral steroids (prenisolone I think, not sure how it is spelled) for my skin and my asthma VANISHED whilst I was taking them. My stamina for things like running and cycling was incredible. They were little red smarties in appearence and most magical in effect. If you take them for a prolonged amount of time though they give you osteoperosis and arthritis. I have been on 2 week long courses in my life but they were good weeks.

Whenever I get bronchitis (which happens frequently, whenever I get sick) I usually get a steroid (prednisone or prednisolone or something) and antibiotic (levaquin). The steroids indeed make my asthma feel better, and I have a feeling I could also have stamina (whereas now I don't ever get attacks, but I cannot really run anywhere or do anything aerobic without needing to catch my breath), but fuck me they make me feel terrible. They make me eat a lot (so I usually put on about 5 pounds when taking them) and I get ROID RAGE or something i dunno but I definitely get irritable (i know they aren't the same kind of steroids that give you ROID RAGE).

I just remember pulling off a very long wheelie along a dirt track on my mountain bike and thinking to myself, damn I am full o beans. That was superb. They need to make the drug minus the side effects and sell it as cereal. Mateui I am looking at you.

Mateui-Os is what they will call it.

BDD is actually one of the most common 'mental illnesses' in North America. There are so many people affected by it because of the wide media coverage that opens to the female and male population and setting a standard to weight and height.

There are many reasons why there is the standard but who is to say the standard is for all of us let alone one of us.

Being a person that sees myself as imperfect, but perfection in my eyes attainable. I had a baby gained 76lbs (yes way too much but it was well worth the yummy food) and have only lost 61lbs of that weight I still don't feel like I will be done until I lose all if not more of that weight that I gained. The thing is for my body type that weight is perfect, dead on... but for someone else whom is 5"45 and of another body shape and heritage it might be under or over weight.

Just my opinion.

not true in that it's not the most prevalent, there's evidence that most people with BDD have had depression before (over 90%) and there's plenty of people with depression who don't have bdd
