this is not what i expected at all. i'm sure i'll figure it out eventually, but if it can be explained to me by someone more intelligent and enterprising just what exactly the fuck was happening the entire episode, i'd be real appreciative

edit: after viewing it a second time i get it more, but there's still a lot of unanswered stuff, like why brock and hunter are with sphinx now

brock isn't with sphinx, he was captured by them, and hunter is with sphinx for god knows what reason.

anyway i'm pretty sure this is what happened (chronologically):

SPOLIERS (Click to reveal)

- Brock and Hatred are abducted by OSI and operated on, Brock gets Helper on his chest, or Helper's head was the shrapnel they were trying to remove.
- Brock gets confused and thinks OSI is after him and jumps out the of plane while Hatred is mindwiped
- Hank is stuck in the bathroom while OSI is cleaning up from the battle at the Venture Compound
- Temporary bodyguards taken out by Sampson after he returns to the Venture compound
- Hitler's soul or mind or whatever is transferred into the dog later seen in the episode
- Brock makes the Doctor take out Helpers Head, returns mails it and his jacket to venture compound, which Hank later wears
- 21 approaches Dr Venture and wants to clone 24, gives him Marvel Comics #1, who he then gives to Hank
- Hatred is hired by Dr Venture to be a bodyguard
- Nazis approach Dr Venture and make him clone Hitler (the dog)
- Hatred wants Hank to shoot him, Dr Venture attaches Helper's head to the spider eye thing from season 3
- Henchman 21 returns with the X1 and tries to get Necromancer to revive 24, is bitter about Venture not cloning 24 and losing Marvel Comics #1
- Hitler (the dog) eats a mummified arm and runs off with Marvel Comics #1
- 21 asks Dean what the comic book was and Necromancer prepares cleaning ritual
- Nazis return and capture Dr Venture
- Necromancer, Hank, Dean, and Hatred are in the bathroom preparing to rescue Venture from the nazis. Dean confesses that he can't kill Hitler (the dog), Hatred wipes ass with Marvel Comics #1
- Necromancer guy kills the Nazis with his magic while trying to kill Hitler (the dog)
- Brock, who has been staying with that bionic guy from season 3, leaves and goes to the Black Hearts HQ
- Hunter is a mole in the Black Hearts (Molotow says something to the same effect)
- Brock and Hunter are recovered by Sphinx, Hunter is shown to be working for Sphinx since his sex change (which was fake)

unless "I didn't know you guys still even existed" means "hey I'm working with you now" for some reason, Brock isn't with them. It's pretty clear he was captured and was being interrogated.

and unless the video on adultswim.com is missing a large portion of the episode then Brock didn't kill hitler, at least not in this episode

also i thought the characters' eyes (especially brock's) looked really weird in this episode sometimes, like everyone was on the verge of crying

I think they purposely wrote the season premiere in such a fashion that you have to watch it a few times in order to get what's going on. At least they'll give you the chance to see it a few more times, it'll be showing every night this week.

I think my favorite thing in this episode is how they keep displaying the cgc rating of the comic 21 gave up in the top right corner. I would find the disjointed plot in bad taste if it wasn't so apparent that you were supposed to piece everything together in order of the diminishing value. Now the only thing I can't figure out is why didn't 21 simply sell the Marvel #1 before going to Dr Venture in the first place.

Also it wasn't priceless, it had a price. It had a cgc rating and everything.

Well in the context of the character, I'd think he would consider the fact that it's a Marvel #1 more valuable than money, especially because of sentimental value, so yea considering it's 21 the action makes perfect sense

also, i was thinking about how jackson publick and doc hammer have pulled the wool over our eyes on many separate occasions, and i'm starting to see a theme that coincides with their often-cited theme of failure: that what actually happens is nowhere as cool as imaginative conspiracy, and that anticipation feels better than reality. see:

- dr. girlfriend's "i'm ____________" at the end of season two. it's basically become a running joke at this point
- who killed jonas? it probably ISN'T kano, because while he said "i have taken from this world a great man, and my silence is my penance" remember that he was a mute DURING the rusty venture cartoon, when jonas was still alive.
- i'm starting to think dermott isn't brock's son since they're trumping it up so much
- why the monarch hates rusty (it's probably something really stupid)

just some thoughts. a lot of these unraveling threads will probably turn out to be some hot fuzz style "oh, we killed all those people because they misspelled shit in the newspaper" deal. that's the way i feel about it, anyway.

edit: it could also be poor execution on the creators' part, but vb has always been written pretty shrewdly save for a few examples (for instance, in season one when dr. girlfriend accidentally gets diet cola instead of regular, the monarch says "it's like having my dad do the shopping" when he was an orphan and obviously wouldn't know how his dad shops)

he was pretty young when he became an orphan, but he still knew his parents didn't he? maybe around 7 years old, hard to tell though. Still kind of a weird thing for a orphan to say though I'd imagine, unless he got adopted at some point(I would imagine people don't give a small child a fat inheritance and then just leave him alone).

that was a good episode. it seems like they're going to be doing 1-episode deals with a full plot for each episode rather than 5-episode story arches, which is fine i guess as long as they're still funny. also 21 is a fucking tank, how and when did that happen

Yeah he's pretty badass now. Losing a partner... changes a man. I thought 21 had his own D&D villain group. maybe I have to rewatch the first episode, i thought I understood everything from the first watch through.

Much like world sporting events like the Wolrd Cup, or the Olympics will bring together different nations in friendly competition, (note the recent Asian Cup; Iraq vs. Saudi Arabia, no violence there) we come together. The differences being, we are not divided by our nationalities and we do it 24-7, and on a personal level.

We are a community without borders and without colours, the spirit and diversity of the gaming community is one that should be looked up to, a spirit and diversity other groups should strive toward.

that was fucking amazing. it doesn't seem like it's advancing much, but it's cool because it's consistently entertaining

i guess captain sunshine's the 'new character' that jackson publick said would be in season 4 (when he gave the hint that he hadn't been seen yet but mentioned). i thought it'd be monstroso, but w/e

I thought they explained that the General Consolidated Insurance was the guild last season. Or maybe it was another GCI company. Also on the adult swim bumps they had art for the new character and it was a girl.
