i got a new ukulele! unfortunately it has a ukulele problem. the c string (third string, equivalent of g string on guitar) is ALWAYS out of tune. i will tune it perfectly but if i press down on a fret it is slightly out of tune and if i let go of the fret it is not slightly out of tune at all anymore. i don't know if anyone plays the ukulele here (me!!!! i do!!!! haha.) but this is a serious problem and is actually why i bought the new ukulele. thank you

I am a Ukelele expert and I can tell you that in my experience this is a common ukelele problem. What is happened is the gears and strings have gotten too warm, and when they are warm they are allowed to slip and stretch. What you need to do is refridgerate, or ideally freeze, your ukelele. You can thank me later.

You're probably going to need to restring your third string. It's pretty tedious but I think guitar places restring for a really small fee. I don't know if they'd restring a ukulele though.

with new strings you mean? because you can do that with a ukulele, i did it a ton of times on my old one it's easy as hell compared to restringing a guitar but unfortunately it doesn't seem to fix anything

Sounds like either you have an intonation problem caused by

a) pressing the string too hard because it's too high so when you fret a note it will be higher due to the extra tension you're putting on it this is easy to solve just sand down the bottom of the saddle so it's not too high

or it's a crooked neck/misplaced fret/bridge
