req, can somebody post a link to an article or somethin' for me I'll crash the whole ship if I go to the youtube.s

I think the real question here though is: DO YOU THINK WE CAN DRINK IT?!!?!?

fo rizzle.

What I meant to say was, I think this is a great discovery, but it's kind of pointless for the time being considering that nobody will actually live up there any time soon, and even if they did, I don't think that twenty galons of water are enough to sustain a viable colony. I am an asshole.

Cool, maybe living on the moon could be something we might actually achieve in our lifetimes

Although I remember reading something about some guy who had to pay a Million dollars to go into outta space.. I think that alone would put people right off especially if your thinking about moving out there some day.

Ok, so what does this mean to us?

Only thing I can think of is it makes the whole Giant Impact Hypothesis a little more credible. Which is interesting, don't get me wrong.

Would the water have come from the moon's now-extinct geological processes or from the comet/meteor/whatever that hit it, in your (or anyone else's) opinion?

the water comes from the fact that the moon used to be part of the earth. Infact it is made from debris that was flung up there when a planet collided with earth about 3.5 billion years ago(I think maybe further back) and other time, the gravity pulled the chunks together forming the moon. So the water is just earth-material. It came from the earth.

Oh, right, duh. The water or water-materials got "splashed" into space with the debris. That makes sense.

If the water in moon came from earth then the water in earth must have come from somewhere else so maybe the moon water didn't really come from earth

It's not that the actual physical water got splashed on the moon, but the materials of the earth at the time did, and so naturally as gravity pulled it together and cooled, water formed, much like it did... on earth.

Inri, water didn't come from anywhere, but developed through chemical reactions.

When you see a pile of bricks and wood, you don't say 'hmm, that's a house in another form'
