They were looking for another planet suitable for humans to live in, and basically, traveling at the speed of light across the universe stopping at all interesting looking planets along the way. (as in zoom in on the planet surface, look around FPS style). They found one which pretty much looked like a CLONE of Earth, but unfortunately, it's 40 something light years away :\

150 years with the fastest modern rocket is 1/4th of a light year. Our rockets are NOWHERE near as fast as light speed.
