This came up in conversation and I wanted to hear about what games have beaten you guys. This got me thinking back to the Sega Megadrive and I remembered two games from this console which beat me everytime.

The first was some spiderman game, I forget the name but I would always get my ass handed to me each time I reached the electro guy which wasn't very often. The second was a game I'm still unsure as to why I actually played called Alex the Kid, this would pawn me everytime and I was stupid enough to keep trying.

Now that I think about it, I remember getting beaten by Gran turismo 3 on the PS2. I must have gotten at least 90%, but those endurance races killed me sitting there for an hour plus going around in circles. Me and a friend had to take turns with each endurance race because they were impossible to complete by yourself, I think we gave up after the 3rd or 4th.
So these are just a few games that have beat me over the years, theres a ton more but the more recent ones are due to me getting bored with them rather than them being too difficult.. I don't have the patience I use to have with video games anymore.

Any want to share?

Conkers Bad Fur Day. I couldn't do the bit where you had to escape the beach area near the end of the game. I kept getting hid with the rockets over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and, well you get the idea.

The only game that I have ever actually given up on was Shadow of the Beast 2 for the Mega Drive. It's a hard-as-balls totally unforgiving platformer that was barely beatable in the original Amiga version - and the Genesis version had pretty much all the useful dialogue removed, making it even harder.

Argh. I even managed to beat The Immortal in the end, but fuck Shadow of the Beast 2.

I appreciated the realism but making kids play the same track for hours with endurance races was taking the piss.

I barely complete video games these days! I usually play one and get bored then play another one and then repeat.

Yes, but aren't you supposed to beat a game first then proceed to buy another? That's what I'm told your supposed to do.

Fire and Ice starring Cool Coyote on my atari when i was a fuckan baby. It was a really really awesome platformer but me and my brother just couldn't do it.

I found out only a couple of weeks back that we were using joysticks that were nothing like what you were supposed to play the game with, we couldn't shoot snowballs half as fast as we were meant to be able to. Game's probably easy as fuck with the right hardware for al lI know

Oh yes man, I remember some of the challenges and stuff in that. I don't really remember which ones were the hardest, but as a kid I remember getting stuck on many of the later coin collecting ones. You had to collect these coins from places way off the track, and then come back and STILL place first

Gran Turismo 4's Licence Tests got me, I hat the fact you HAVE to do them to be able to do the races, which I'm perfectly alright with doing.

If it was the first one for the genesis, a turbo-fire controller really helped against him. When you played on nightmare, Venom seemed to be around every corner. The part at the end where you had to keep alive while fighting Venom and Kingpin was real annoying the first time.

haha does this really require spoilers?

That’s right, you have the young gaming with the old(er), white people gaming with black people, men and women, Asian countries gaming with the EU, North Americans gaming with South Americans. Much like world sporting events like the Wolrd Cup, or the Olympics will bring together different nations in friendly competition, (note the recent Asian Cup; Iraq vs. Saudi Arabia, no violence there) we come together. The differences being, we are not divided by our nationalities and we do it 24-7, and on a personal level.

We are a community without borders and without colours, the spirit and diversity of the gaming community is one that should be looked up to, a spirit and diversity other groups should strive toward.

Out of this World

I have never loved a game and hated it so much at the same time as I did with this game. Towards the end I would do a victory dance every time I got a new password.

Also Silent Hill 2 on Hard Mode is fucking unreal.  Especially when you have to run away from the Pyramid Head without getting Maria killed and she fucking walks away from him. Also, on the final boss after you've wasted 3/4 of your ammo and healing items in the Pyramid Heads. I am never going to play Silent Hill games on Hard Mode ever again.

It was ridiculous. I could never beat some of the later levels, and I doubt I could if I tried now either. The thing is, I'd always come in 2nd or 3rd in those coin races. It's like they specifically designed the level so that the difficulty fringes just on the line between possible and impossible and every race became a rage-inducing experience.
