OK. It would be interesting to see what games were the first people ever tried. Let that nostalgic feeling from childhood come back to you.
I guess I'll start out.

It was Super Mario Bros. on a rented NES from the video store. I was 6 years old.

Geez, uh, either some archaic Spectrum games on my cousin's ZX, Advanced Dungeons & Dragons on my uncle's Intellivison, or Space Invaders/Pong/Pacman/Jungle Hunt/Centipede on my mother's Atari 2600.

Come to think of it, I don't know why my mum had an Atari, she's never been that into games. I should ask.

I was only somewhat into games when I was super young. and I'm not sure what the VERY FIRST game that I played was. though it was likely either Super Mario Bro's (NES) or some other game on the NES or SNES. The first game that got me super interested in games might have been Star Fox (SNES). The first series of games I became any sort of giant fan of was Twisted Metal. Then I was introduced to GTA2 on the PS1 and loved it and every sequel, then my dad bought me a Xbox despite me saying I wanted a PS2, I hadn't even heard of Halo: Combat Evolved till I first played it, it remains my favorite game of all time.

Sooo, I went from Nintendo fan, to Playstation Fan (almost could add -boy to this), to Xbox fan. Now I mostly play games on PC through Steam. So one could say I've moved on to become a Steam fan.

I've had a taste of every current company's console and am now mostly a PC player, with Xbox as my favorite console series. I like the Playstation consoles. But I'm not big enough of a japanophile to like all of the JRPG's, brawlers, and fighting games that came out of the systems. Nintendo was awesome back in the day as far as I know, but I've had little to no experience with anything after the SNES with them. I've only played 2 N64 titles: Conker's Bad Fur Day, and a half an hour of Goldeneye Multiplayer, I only played a little SSB: Melee on the GameCube and I've only played 1 Wii title, SSB:Brawl and never used the Wiimote.

Some game on the Odyssey...  I think it was called "Smithereens"

Basically, two guys with a catapult and a tower, your goal is to break the others tower first.  The game was extremely broken as you could hit your opponents person, and he'd have to get carted away for five seconds, or so,  to get revived.  and that was more than enough time to launch enough rocks to destroy the tower.

We bought an NES, and sold the Odyssey to some people, who probably sold it for drugs.

First game that got me into gaming though was either the original Mario Bros. or Mario 3

I didn't grow up with consoles, but we've had a computer of some sort for as long as I can remember. We had an old DOS when I 5-6, and played a bunch of educational games on it. Treasure Cove, Treasure Mountain, Reader Rabbit, etc. Also this cool submarine game where you'd swim around a reef and at the end of the levels you'd have to answer a math question. I didn't play a real video game until I went over to a friend's house and played one of the TMNT games for the NES.

When I think of it, I might actually have played a game even before Super Mario Bros. We had this really old computer at home which my dad sometimes used to write things on. It was one of those really old ones that actually had a black screen with light green text on it, and it couldn't show graphics. I have no idea what the computer was called, though.
Anyway, there was this text adventure on it that I tried out with my dad (since I couldn't read any English when I was just a really small kid, I could barely read at all). I don't know the title of the game, but it involved a dark cave and you could pick up a magic wand to open a door.

Pole Position.  I played it all the time at the local bar when I was 4.  I was too short to reach the steering wheel and work the pedals so my uncle used to hold me up so I could steer and he worked on the gas and brake.

Super Mario Bros on the NES when i was 6 years old. I sat up until 4 in the morning playing this game.

I also have a vague memory of playing Kid Icarus at a friend's house, but I don't know if this was before or after I first played Mario.

Super Mario NES. Man, for the first few days we just called it "the little man who jumps around".

Good times...

When I was one and two I used to sit on my dad's lap and watch him play the king's quest games and day of the tentacle and the like.  Then my brother and I got a Genesis and a SNES, but weren't allowed to play it till my dad beat Zelda: Link to the Past.  When I was 3, and my brother was 4, we started playing Donkey Kong Country, and beat it in around six months to nine months (we were only allowed to play on weekends for one hour at a time).  I still don't know how the hell we beat it, that game is actually really difficult!  I remember beating it and jumping on our couch though, it was pretty amazing.
