Man I get the worst sore eyes lately, red and constantly straining. I think its because of gaming to an extent but I also think its because alot of my assignments I have to write up on the computer.

Anyone else get similar problems? or have any solutions?

Yesterday, everything on the comp screen has been a bit shaky. I felt disorientated as hell.

This will sound stupid, but make sure you are blinking??? A lot of times I stare without knowing it so maybe you are doing the same?

THe problem I have is I will be sitting and suddenly feel like the room is tilted forward at make a 45* angle. It's trippy and I think it's just from being in front of the screen too long.

Also, it's very important to take a break every hour or half hour and just look away from the screen for ten minutes. Try focusing on a close object and then a distant object out the window for a while, switching between both.

Why exactly? To relax your eyes?

Yeah, I've heard it's a good technique.

relax your eyes maybe, not sure

but it helps prevent dreaded eye wear by a long way
if you're prone to eye wear at least

this technique applies to book readers as much as tv watchers as much as gamers or pc people

also my eyes are a little sore right now from playing mp:trilogy

but tbh it's just because i still have my contacts on and they end up giving me sore eyes either way

p-s: my post is veridict i am a doctor

You can get eye drops that help sore/tired eyes but there not a long term solution. Take reglar breaks, as sugested above and book an appointment with you doctor if problems continue.

um. your eyes and.. like.. all your senses can be dulled if you abuse them.

listening to loud music on headphones can ruin your ears.

straining your eyes over the course of years can ruin your eyes.

my eyes get sore sometimes, i think it has a lot to do with the fact that i have astigmatism. I think it's possible to develop this, not from looking at a screen but it's a hereditary thing that can come later in life. Maybe you should check with an optometrist if you haven't had an eye appointment in a while.

I read online that straining your eyes usually doesn't have long term consequences, thats why I asked. So get off me

It does. Straining your eyes on a screen usually means you're focused on it for too long, and thus you are looking at the very same distance for a long time. The reason looking away for short periods of time helps is because it helps change t he distance of focus, which in turn helps keep the elasticity of the cristalline lens. This isn't the only cause, but it helps develop a basic form of myopia, and directly helps develop, along with age hardening and weakening the cristalline lens, presbyopia.

I did use a little wiki to get my terms right, but biology class did actually teach me something

dang

what i do sometimes is stare at a corner of the monitor, and follow the edge all the way around the monitor very slowly, 2 or 3 times, in each direction. go slowly so its kind of like a stretch. it feels good.

It would still behoove you to focus your eyes on something other than the monitor every hour or so!
