A fighting game can be fun and interesting with out button mashing/luck OR memorizing combos. I like to think of fighting games more about the following: reaction time, quick thinking/strategy, predicting your opponents movements by learning your opponent's strategies.

Fight Night Round 3 (the only fight night I played) is an excellent example of a fighting game that involves the things I mention, with out combos.

I sort of lean towards "Frisky SKeleton"/climbtree? opinion here.

EDIT: lol, WTF the last 3 posts I've made today all started a new page (and I wasn't paying attention to the number of posts on the pages), what are the chances?

Boxing has combos. Jab, Cross, Uppercut is a combo when done one after the other. Sorry.
Peace and Love

a combo of moves is different to a combo of buttons. Sorry. a boxer will never have to left jab left jab, jump back twice, right punch left kick left kick to tackle his opponent and snap his arm

You're right, I think he'd just need to press triangle and square together at the same time.

The point is, while Tekken  (to me at least) seems better about combos (like your example), there are the ridiculous combos that end up being a stupid amount of buttons being pressed for some single move.

Rather not look at a list of these of things and memorize them.

Rather not look at a list of these of things and memorize them.

Then you are doomed to have an inherit disadvantage against any and all players that choose to memorize those lists in their entirety.

You can still play the game just fine, but be sure to do so prepared to accept that inevitable truth.

If there was any one game series I want to see ported to wii, it would have been this one, and I'm not even that big a fan of the series. It's just that it always seemed like the buttons combined with the motion controls could easily work out as the most ideal format in which to control that style of fighting game. (I could even imagine the full button/motion configuration for theoretical wiimote/nunchuck play)

only in terms of winning, not necessarily having fun. getting a new game and playing it two player straight away is infinitely better than playing against someone who's played it for a month or so already.

I might pik this game up but the $120 pricetag is just ridiculous.

The price is a little steep so therefore I shall wait until it comes down before I buy it. i have always liked this series and I think I will enjoy this one too ^_^

I kind of want to get this game since I haven't done anything much with fighters this generation outside of Brawl.  I really liked SFIV, played it to death on my bro's PS3 though I'm glad I waited as I'll just get Super SFIV and I'm also looking forward to Tatsunoko v. Capcom.  I gotta say, I haven't enjoyed a Tekken since Tekken 3 which is part of my hesitation for this game. (though some say Dark Resurrection was good but I don't own or plan to own a PSP)

Considered buying it just because it came in a gigantic box. Kind of jaded when it comes to online play in fighting games (as thats the only reason I player newer fighting games) since in Soul Calibur it was just people maxing out a character and killing you in 1 hit and EVERYONE did it
How about no!? You are an idiotic version of a baboon.
