So I recently just about paid off my car payments for my 2008 ford focus (I only owe about 900$ on it) and I've since been looking to put my money to something. At first I was gonna get a place to stay when I'm home but my parents talked me out of it because I'm never home and we got some extra land out in the woods so they're putting a place out there and I might live there (but if not it doesn't really matter I'm never home).

Then my brother and some other people I've talked to with the base knowledge of cars actually I have talked me into getting this:



except its gonna be a blue one and I'm going to get it tricked out before I get it via internets. Gonna trade my old car in for it and pay monthly payments on it. Its going to be pretty fucking expensive (think possibly a little over 30k) and insurance will be expensive but it will help my credit so later I can get a house and I'll have the baddest car ever.

I'm pretty sure I can have it paid off in a year and a half to two years , so I'm not too worried about the payments but that is alot of money...

Anyways. How much cash do I need for a used shitty car in the NY area? I'm looking for something on four wheels that could take me from one side of the states to the other.. and prefferably back, before it breaks down >_>

@bonehead: I dunno how much they run in NY but around here you could get an older car that would carry you around for like 4k I think. I wouldn't go too cheap cus you might end up on the side of the road halfway though your trip.

Also you should check around that the car's easy to sell as well. You never know when you'll suddenly need cash for something else instead and
having piggie-bank effect on a car is always good.

yeah I realize that about the gas, which is something else I've got to deal with. My bro said it was at about 24mpg on the highway which isn't nearly as good as the focus but its not horrid either. But when you think about it, I'll be driving cross state to go to work but I'll only be actually driving when I'm ashore which is hardly ever so...


and yeah its supposed to have a pretty high resell value and if I can keep it in nit condition then I could sell it for some dough later. As long as it doesn't get fucked up.
