yeah I guess I should try give some WPRG's a chance.
I've played a few but I just couldn't get into 'em.
I hear Last Remnant is like a mix between JRPG and Western maybe it'll help me get used to them?

I've heard good things about Dragon Age: Origins.

Fighting Games:[/i]

Street Fighter IV

But maybe wait for Super Street Fighter IV?

Infinite Undiscovery does pick up if you can get over the first couple of hours. Also Kaworu is wrong about the Lost Odyssey load times, at least now that you can install the game to the hard drive. The load time problems were in an early review copy of the game, the release version got the load times down to a slightly less awful time of like 20 seconds, and installing the game to the HD helps even more. Unfortunately, it's still not a very good game, though it's pretty in some parts.

The only jRPG worth playing though is Enchanted Arms, because it's the most ridiculous jRPG I've ever played. Probably provided centuries of Yaoi material.

The 360 has a surprising number of high profile RPGs but unfortunately the japanese ones are all paint-by-numbers affairs featuring the same dumb characters you've seen in every game (strong male leads, a weak female that the male lead must protect but who is capable of amazing healing powers, a brooding individual, and usually a spunky supporting female)

you forgot "the black", although this is an optional addition to rpgs

is magna carta 2 any different than every other jrpg because i do not have a high tolerance for jrpgs nowadays (really not much of one for any rpgs but jrpgs much less) but part of me still feels the need to try playing them and it's one of the only ones i can think of in recent history that i don't know anything about/haven't heard a million people say how awful it is

basically on a scale from rape to shape how j is this jrpg?

Magna Carta 2 is horribly generic and awful and shitty. If you're looking to try a decent-ish JRPG, try picking up Vesperia. It's... ok this sounds p. gay but it is a lot better than surface value would suggest!

I read the character descriptions of Vesperia just now and jesus it fits Rowain's list so perfectly.

My descriptions apply perfectly to Magna Carta 2.

Male lead is obvious, weak supporting female is the princess, brooding individual is the big bear man, and spunky supporting female is this girl: http://www.zeitgeistgamereview.com/wordpress/wp-content/gallery/magna-carta-2-screenshots/celestine_pose_type_a_01.jpg

Also description of characters:

Quote from: Wikipedia
Juto (Male | Swordsman | Counter-Sentinel Unit Member)
The young protagonist of the game. Juto is an amnesiac. With no knowledge of his past, he settled down into a normal life on Highwind Island, until his life was turned upside-down by the war. Melissa, who gave him the name Juto, has been like a big sister to him ever since he came to Highwind Island. Juto is very outgoing and can be very childish at times, particularly when it comes to taking orders from others.
Voiced by: Jun Fukuyama (Japanese) Johnny Yong Bosch (English)

Zephie (Female | Wind Wizard | Counter-Sentinel Unit Leader)
The game's heroine, Rzephillda Grena Berlinette (Zephie) is the rightful heir to the throne of the Kingdom of Lanzheim, which was stolen by a usurper. She now leads the Counter-Sentinel Unit, a special unit of the Southern Forces Army, in hope of one day retrieving her throne and restoring peace to the empire. The hardships she has experienced, such as her mother's assassination and her subsequent imprisonment, have lent her an unusually cool and unshakable demeanor for a girl her age. The reason she represses her true emotions is for the sake of the many complicated roles she plays.
    Voiced by: Michelle Ruff (English)

Rue (Female | Lightning Wizard | Counter-Sentinel Unit Member)
Her full name is Siara Rue Tessia, but after she became Zephie's bodyguard she started calling herself "Rue". She is older and more mature than her childish appearance would suggest - the exact opposite of Celestine. Having trained from a young age to be Zephie's bodyguard, she has learned to repress her emotions and to always act in a level-headed manner. Clever, cunning, and fearless, her training has given her a black and white view of the world. As a result, she dislikes breaking rules and promises, and has a hard time seeing things from another person's perspective.
    Voiced by: Kate Higgins (English)

Crocell Reeden (Male | Fire Wizard | Counter-Sentinel Unit Member)
A young fire wizard in the Counter-Sentinel Unit, Crocell may look like a cute little boy, but he has a rude way of speaking, and he's not afraid to speak out about anything he doesn't like. He has a hard time getting close to people or being honest with himself, but he's very good at pushing other people's buttons -- a trait that often leads him into conflict with the short-tempered Juto. He lost his parents and his little sister in the war, and hates the Northern Forces Army because of it.
    Voiced by: Yuri Lowenthal (English)

Argo Kindu (Male | Warrior | Counter-Sentinel Unit Member)
A warrior of the long-lived Trewa race, Argo has a massive body as hard as a rock. Level-headed, patient, and responsible, he often plays the role of mediator during arguments. A very responsible person, he's usually slow to anger -- though if he does lose his temper, he becomes like an unstoppable inferno. He possesses an encyclopedic knowledge of Lanzheim, and seems far wiser and more knowledgeable than other Trewa of the same age.
    Voiced by: Jamieson Price (English)

Celestine Roaa (Female | Ice Wizard | Archer)
A lively, high-spirited Mare girl. The Mare people look just like humans, but their lifespan is a little under 40 years. They reach physical maturity at the age of 10, and remain young-looking until they die. Psychologically speaking, though, they mature at the same rate as humans do, so even though Celestine's has the body of an adult, her mind is still that of a young girl. As such, she always speaks her mind, and expresses her true feelings without hesitation -- with Celestine, what you see is what you get.
    Voiced by: Stephanie Sheh (English)

Schuenzeit Baren (Male | Supreme Commander of the Northern Forces Army)
The main antagonist of the game. Formerly the Prime Minister of Lanzheim, he assassinated the queen and usurped her throne three years prior. Grave and solemn, his very presence demands deference from those around him. Even when he seems to be acting at ease, his peculiar charisma makes it impossible for others to drop their guard. Cool-headed and craft, there is no limit to the cruelty he is capable of if it helps him achieve his goals. He is said to be a peerless swordsman, but no one has ever seen him in action.
    Voiced by: Steve Blum (English)

Also note the inclusion of a race who reach maturity at the age of 10.

it's strange, i can still go back and objectively enjoy some of the old rpgs(SOME), but all the new rpgs make me sick one way or another.

probably has something to do with the graphics. the more they look like people and not pixel/polygon blobs, the more you expect the characters to behave like people. voice acting plays a big part in this as well. you really notice shit dialogue more when you've got some low-grade voice actor trash seeking unsuccessfully for the meaning in the words.

Vesperia is actually pretty fun if you don't mind the "Tales of" series...  Though, an updated version is being released (if it isn't already out) on PS3 and I'm fairly certain the US is getting that one.  The voice work was pretty good and there were plenty of funny/entertaining moments (if not childish, but whatevs).

And if you can con any of your friends to help you out in battles with the local multiplayer, it's a good way to pass the time with a couple buddies.

it's definitely because of the graphics and whatnot. To me, it's OK if a sprite or blocky character is giving me some cheesy text dialogue and has about 3-6 preprogrammed animations because my suspension of disbelief is already heavily enough in play that it's just fine for a bunch of 2D or poorly rendered fools to act like that in their already quaint little world, but when a full on japanese anime-style 3D voice acted faggot is just goin' for it in the melodrama department I get disgusted.

the PS3 might be the better choice right now, developers are getting the hang of the hardware finally and a lot of the exclusives are pretty nice looking.

Just about every game worth playing on the 360 is also on the PS3 anyway

Definitely get some Microsoft Points. XBLA has, surprisingly, a lot of great games on there.

Shadow Complex
Marvel vs. Capcom 2
Mega Man 9
1989 Arcade Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix (can this name get any longer?)
Super Puzzle Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix
Crystal Defenders (basically Tower Defense but it's a lot of fun. Plus from Square Enix)
Braid
Trials HD (it's just damn fun)

Great thing is is all these games you can download a demo.

Oh and Bioshock is a must.

I really dig Rock Band 2 but that's not for everyone (obviously).

actually here its impossible for a game to go that high highest it will ever go is 110 which I'm cool with.
NOT that I'll buy every game as soon as it comes out except Final Fantasy XIII and maybe Dragon Ball Z raging blast(which i don't think counts because its only 90 and already out.)

All new games are 120 dollars here. Well, the high budget ones, anyway. Either suck it up, or don't buy new current gen games.
