I just quickly scanned the forums and can't believe you guys missed this tech.

I'm not going to write about what's in the video because you seriously need to watch this from beginning to end.

Hell yeah.

Luckily the dude is releasing the source code for this, either this month or January next year.

I saw this when TEDxIndia was broadcasted live, but felt it was a little underwhelming. No matter how you look at it, projectors make for terrible monitors. They're additive overlays and thus useless once there's too much ambient light.

It's cool if you live in a cave. Otherwise I would prefer a pipboy tyvm.

Yeah agree with Dada on this one... it's cool and it has potential, but there's no ignoring projector tech isn't the best for this sort of thing.

Not that I don't dig this whole augmented reality thing, by the way. I think that stuff is awesome, and it's definitely part of the process, but we should not consider it an end point. It's probably always going to be limited in some sense. As a concept, it ultimately seems backwards to have a machine that tells you about the environment rather than having the environment tell you.

My personal favorite is this movie by Microsoft that shows how damn cool the future will be once we build monitors into EVERYTHING. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Ff7SzP4gfg

I've never seen this vid without a sarcastic narrator. I think in 2019 microsoft office will be exactly the same but with another ribbon

It was fairly believable until you get to the guy reading the newspaper. Still pretty cool though.
