Shut up ATARI no-one asked you.

I never listen to music while I game. i just think it takes something away from the experience. Fallout 3 doesn't have much music for a reason. Unless like, I could find some music that sounds like the end of the world. (MONO & World's End Girlfriend collab'd and it sounded like the end of the world maybe I'll try that)

No, man, seriously, try listening to GNR when you get the signal back. It really adds so much atmosphere to the game. Sneaking around OR having a huge gun fight to random 50s happy-go-lucky tracks is so awesome. It really is.

edittte: in fact, i believe bethesda games are meant to be played with music - both morrowind and oblivion had very fitting orchestral soundtracks, but fo3 is missing that in lieu of the radio system.

i admit its fun to roam around a creepy cave in silence, but at the same time it's also fun to be hiding from extremely high level super mutants while listening to bing crosby's way back home.

i think the music that 3dog plays is a really good soundtrack for the game. it's not as emotionally fitting as mark morgan's original soundtrack was for the first two, but most of the songs are ironically appropriate much in the same way the intro songs to the first fallout games were. it can get a little tiresome listening to that, particularly if you have no tolerance whatsoever for 40s pop music, but i found that it very often added to the experience of the game.

it's really ridiculous how appropriate jack shaindlin's i'm tickled pink is for a heavy gunfight against a dozen supermutants. a couple songs in the 3dog music collection are particularly appropriate when you're doing certain things or are in particular places in the game, i think. i didn't keep it on all the time(brain explode) but i found myself periodically checking to see what he had playing during sections where i knew certain songs would be oddly appropriate. i really fucking hated that danny kaye song about the jungle and left it off a lot just to avoid hearing that song. actually i just fucking hate danny kaye anyway. what a cunt.

i should mention that all this was doubly the case for me because the first thing i did in the game was kill burke and wear his clothes around the remainder of the game. the game really felt like it took place in the apocalyptic 40s for my playthrough of the game.

Man, I played this again today and I've been having a lot of fun. I don't know how I missed out on so much stuff last time. It's quite weird. I'm really interested in Oblivion now as well. It looks a lot more interesting scenery and exploration wise, how does it play?

oblivion is really boring and bad compared to fallout. it's okay but exploration is like whoa stupid as hell and there's literally no challenge at all in the game and the rewards you get from treasure suck and the creatures are boring and its just kind of shit

oblivion has dated horribly, the main quest where you have to enter those 10000 portals is fucking annoying. I did finish the game and the two add-ons though.

I kinda liked Oblivion in spite of itself. In retrospect nothing about it was particularly interesting or well done at all except maybe the graphics but it was pretty fun leaving the sewer for the first time and just heading in some random direction and ending up fighting VAMP CHIEFTAIN for Vakil Orbs or whatever. I haven't played Fallout but I imagine Oblivion doesn't hold up too well if you're already used to that kind of open-world sandbox stuff.

aye, oblivion is to fallout what.. some.. game's really old dated predecessor is to it. re1 to re4+, i guess. it works, it's playable, it might even be fun, but it sure is hella old and dated now.

i'm playing fallout 3 right now and i really really hate how the movement works. like everything is kinda floaty, you get stuck on little things, you can pretty much walk/jump up mountains if you get it at the right angle. it's a little better than in oblivion but how can bethesda not have realized how shitty this makes everything feel

*walks over a rock and flies 5 feet in the air taking 3 seconds to reach the ground again*

I found a fucking sweet mod earlier today that adds iron sights along with a mod that gives you the ability to sprint, which was one thing that annoyed me on my first play through of Fallout 3 was that I had to run at such a slow speed.

This really has no connection to the current topic apart from FALLOUT 3 and that someone was complaining about the movement in game, which the sprint helps quite a bit with. . .

the sprint mod actually makes the problems dom was talking about much worse/funnier. sprint off a tiny rock and you rocket several feet into the air!
