judging presidents is impossible. even if they try to do good things there are still the underlying AWFUL THINGS that they cant change because they dont want to because, after all, theyre all right wingers at heart

afghanistan - i read recently if american troops were to pull out today Karzai's government would fall in weeks. can we fundamentally change this reality in two years without devastating loss of both afghan and american life? civilian or non?

NOPE

health - i mean i will always be in favor of making it easier for the poor to get healthcare. i think it's a step in the right direction, but it sounds like the insurance companies will be able to take advantage of the subsidies theyll be recieving and thats just a big ol mess

It seems like both candidates for president, or ANY ever is a bad choice. And that's not entirely unbelievable since their job is probably the toughest in the world. I think when we look at the president then, we should look at him and go "how much less worse is he."

Despite the short comings, I give him an A for effort. The guy's trying to do everything, give him some slack.

Are you kidding me? You're NOT going to give him an A in EFFORT? He took on climate change (Bush didn't even acknowledge that global warming was happening); Health Care Reform (something that hasn't come this far in decades); The two wars he's trying to responsibly close (he had some 10 meetings with top generals, exhausting every possible line of action before moving on), and that's all in less than 1 year.

as far as i'm aware nothing has happened of any consequence in any of those areas. he went to the copenhagen thing with other world leaders and said developing countries were going to be a problem, i don't know what's going on with health care reform, and there's more troops deployed than ever before?

He's not trying to close both wars...sending 30,000 more troops isn't closing anything.

I don't know if you paid attention to what happened in Copenhagen, but that was hardly a success. Healthcare reform is a disaster, even liberals like Dean and Kucinich are saying we ought to just scrap the whole thing because it doesn't fix anything except providing insurance companies with more subscribers that they can deny claims for(and blocks federal funding for abortion). As for the war in Afghanistan, Obama is in full support of the openly imperialist path the US has gone down with the middle east.

He gets an F for being an imperialist who's got the blood of afghans and pakistanis on his hands

Imperialist? Do you even know what that means? Imperialism is if he wanted to stay there indefinitely and somehow have the US gain from staying. He's said repeatedly that he wants to move out responsibly by 2011, no one wants these wars, especially him. But destroying Al Qaeda once and for all is keeping him from just up and leaving. If this isn't done, it's possible we could have another 9/11 on our hands. He doesn't want THAT blood on his hands. These are tough times, and the reason some people are dissatisfied is not really because of him, but because of the situation and the fact that there isn't a fully right answer.

Health care reform isn't a disaster, the AMA fully supports it. Some far-left liberals are fuming because it doesn't have the public option. Obama was 1 person away from getting it done, but like he said, it has almost every measure he campaigned for, except the public option. It'll do a lot of good, just watch.

It's been 11 months, you can't expect him to have everything done this early. What's important is, he's beginning to get things rolling: from climate change and carbon emission caps, to nuclear disarmament (even won the nobel peace prize, albeit a bit prematurely but still won it because of his EFFORT which is the point of this entire argument by the way), to regaining the standing of respect to the rest of the world.

That's not bad considering HOW much stuff he had on his plate when he first walked into office. Today, less than a year later, the economy has begun to bounce back, jobs aren't being shed per month but rather gained, it's on its track.

Effort my friend, you cannot say he hasn't put that forth. If you do, you're a blind man speaking out of anger over his policies.

He sent 30,000 more troops to afghanistan, 2.75 billion dollars more to Israel (with 10% unemployment here in America) the dollar's weaker than ever and china holds 2/3 of our current 12 trillion dollar debt

On a serious note: Something tells me that none of you actually have the political mind to properly understand his reasons for doing this stuff or the time in which he should be able to follow through his promises.
