i only played a little bit of oblivion, it got boring pretty fast for me. on the other hand i played a bunch of morrowind and didn't really get bored. i didn't even finish any major quests. i just did lots of side quests and exploring. the world and the racial dynamics were great. it's been a while since i've played it so i'm not sure this is entirely correct but this one thing bothered me - when you kill someone in town even if no one else is around, all the guards automatically know.

that's not correct, you can definitely kill people stealthily. it has to be completely out of sight or indoors though

are you using the sneak function and is your eye not lit up? then go ahead and kill my friend

if he isnt a little square icon will appear near your weapon/spell in the UI

also noone can see you if you're at the peak of your jump

actually you casn steal the limewire platter really easily int he beginnign by taking it and then dropping it when the guards get pissed so they can't take it back
