Does everyone have logitech speakers or something? My room, loscs and Mr. Ls rooms all have logitech speakers.
I've got Altec (really small ones). I should have gotten Logitech; my roommate has them and they're a lot better then mine.

really?  the logitech speakers that i've heard sound pretty terrible in my opinion.  they just seem to be really bass heavy and lack any sort of reasonable detail whatsoever.

I got a pair of logitech speakers just because they were affordable, they have terrible sound-quality.

the frequency response of those things looks like a low pass filter

i like the creative speakers i have now, except the subwoofer doesn't have a volume knob. pretty shitty. I have to stuff a sock in it to dampen the noise.

I'm going to get some new ones soon-ish, and i really want a wireless volume control remote. that'd be sweet.

Discussing frequenzy response to logitech and creative speakers is a complete waste of time. What is there even to say? At best, it will sound "good" for games. However, there is a point using them. I listen to alot of music in my creative speakers. I use it as a reference, quite interesting actually. I mean...most people have these kind of speakers...

I have creative speakers and I find that they are preferable to a lot of people's stereos. Having a separate sub makes a real difference as it sounds a lot nicer coming from floor level as opposed to having 2 stereo speakers either side, blasting in your face. They are really good trust me. Have had them since 2004.

Mine has bass setting on the sub which was nice as the deafault was turned up street-rumbling-ly high!

I have these and it takes some fiddling with an equalizer to get them to sound good for music. They're boomy as hell and logitech seemed to design them for the purpose of shaking floors rather than listening to music. They're great for movies though.

If you're looking for low-budget speakers for listening to music, I think it's much better idea to put your money to more decent 2.0 speakers and ditch the subwoofer completely, because cheap subs are actually pretty terrible and sound bad. With 2.0 speakers for the same price, you get that much better speakers, and good speakers can usually produce pretty good and more accurate bass sound compared to a cheap sub.

I used to have Creative Gigaworks T40s (DS has them now):

They have no separate subwoofer, but instead they have bass elements on top of the speakers. I think they sounded really good for their price (around 120e at the time I bought it), and it beat all the Creative's shitty 2.1 systems I had used before it by miles.

PS. I'm talking about listening to music, for movies one might prefer a separate sub to get more powerful explosions and effects and shit.

I was thinking of ditching the logitechs for a pair of studio monitors. My homie has M-Audio Studiophile AV40's and they sound pretty excellent.

I have those. They're from the more expensive side and they do sound pretty good. Of course they're far from the best but for the price I'd say they are well worth it.

I need to get some proper speakers for my TV though. Think I'll get some proper towers for it.
