i've got a glofiish x610 and it came with winmo 6.1 and spb shell 2 and it was frustrating as "al get out." right now i've got windows 6.5 and that's alright but there's still some annoying stuff, like 60 taps to get anywhere other than the home screen and the general order of things (why is PICTURES at the top? you can't rearrange icons afaik)

has anyone had experience with this phone or these interfaces?? talk about this phone and windows mobile and spb shell i want to hear what you're saying

SPB Shell is okay, I never got it for WinMo 6.5 when i got it, and my experience with 6.5 is nice so far, minus the fact its a some custom ROM that crashes when i try to open text messages, and i found that out after my data port got water in it and now it doesnt want to connect to my computer so i cant change the ROM

otherwise 6.5 is great, minus the homescreen not being re-organizable :\

were you using the latest SPB? on my phone there's a way to flash the rom from an SD card. i've got a cooked beta leak of 6.5 and it seems buggy in some places but they could be features. overall it's nice but it feels like the features i use most are the most hard to get to; turning wifi on and off is a super hassle.

try holding the end call button, that should pop up with a menu that can take you to that easily

I've used Samsung Omnia and HTC Touch HD with different shells on Windows Mobile 6.1, and I can't say I liked the system a lot. Aside from being sort of slow and clunky, you had next to no freedom of customization and usually had to hack your way around that. I also found that Windows Mobile applications rarely worked right and crashed half of the time, so I was kind of stuck with a system that looked highly customizable and useful at face value but was really just kind of slow and worthless.

A bit off-topic, but the Nokia n900 is looking like a sweet Linux-based open source alternative.

I think its not kind of completely user friendly. They need to look at functional keys and utilize them for short codes.
