you're right it's not an excuse, but part of the reason i started up again because we'd all go out to the balcony and be smoking and drinking so it was incredibly easy to just say "sure" when offered.
i wish i could say that this is unacceptable behavior, but fuck man i know exactly what you mean. i don't hang around too many smokers anymore, but when i do and they're standing in one of those PRIMO SMOKING SPOTS i can't help but go slightly berserk even if i do have my fake cigarette in my mouth. i do a pretty good job resisting this, and i think i've only had maybe three or four real cigarettes since officially quitting. but still FUCK MAN. if i knew there was no tomorrow i'd go out and buy as many packs of cigarettes as i could carry.
what's the new model you're sucking on? I got a bigger tax refund than expected so I've got some money burning a hole in my pocket.
what is your favorite model hundley?
i personally prefer the KR808D-1 model, which gets rebranded as a bunch of different fucking names, too many for me to have kept track of. from what i know, the best of the bunch is the vapor king, which gets sold at
vapor4life. they've actually done the most with that model, and have released their own variation on it(premium cartomizers) that's actually quite a bit better than the standard fare you get everywhere else. they're slightly more expensive than other places, but their shit is of a much higher quality and rarely ever breaks. i've got batteries from them that i bought in october that i'm still using, which is totally ridiculous as most other batteries don't seem to last more than two weeks.(note: if you do shop there, use their discount code SMILIN which is a 10% discount on everything in the store)
anyway, the KR808D-1 is a little different from other electronic cigarettes, in that the nicotine cartridge and atomizer(heating coils and shit for all those uninitiated) are built into the same device, called a cartomizer. some would argue that this isn't intrinsically better, but cartomizers are a lot cheaper to buy compared to the single atomizer models, and you can rather easily just fill up a handful of cartomizers to last you a day or two, rather than the single atomizer models which require a more deliberate, continuous effort throughout the day to keep them filled up/cleaned/etc. there are some very good youtube videos out there that show the various methods of refilling them. a lot of places market the cartomizer as disposable, but that's slightly misleading. you can refill them quite a few times before they kinda wear out. it's just that one cartomizer won't last as long as one atomizer will, but you can get so many more cartomizers for the price of an atomizer that it doesn't really matter.
and the performance of cartomizers is really outstanding. it has a longer heating coil than most models out there, and the result is something consistently outstanding. strong flavor, thick clouds of vapor, and a noticeable but not sharp hit to the throat. it's not tobacco, but it comes the closest as far as smaller personal vaporizers go.
but that's just me. the big problem with the KR808 model is that you can't really BOOST IT UP by getting crazy batteries and shit to increase performance. you can do a lot of wacky shit with the standard atomizer models with all these battery mods that are out there hitting the mainstream. i've never tried that, due to my preference for cartomizers, but people say that's the way to go if you've got a bit of money to spend on the habit and want something VERY close to a real cigarette. i can point you guys in the right direction for researching that stuff if you're ever interested in doing wacky shit like that and getting a heavy-duty e-cig rig. but people new to electronic cigarettes are still probably better off starting out with a simple model first.
i'm not going to bullshit you guys though, it isn't cheap to smoke electronic cigarettes. they are a bit cheaper, particularly if you know what to buy and how to make it last, but if it's your goal to smoke them full-time, you're going to spend quite a bit on it, particularly early on as you buy batteries and chargers and shit like that. depending on where you live, it may turn out to be more expensive than it is to smoke tobacco. it isn't for me, but that's because maryland is fucking awful and they charge quite a bit for a pack of cigarettes(although it's still half as much as places like new york). however, if you're purely curious or just don't want to go spending a ton of money your first time out, the best bet would be to pick up a
usb passthru kit and a small 5ml bottle of juice so you can fill those cartomizers a couple times to see if the experience of smoking and refilling them are something you'd like to do. it'll come out to about $35 after shipping and their discount(listed above) to try it out. those usb passthrus are fucking incredible too, and will give you a really great idea of what these things are like at their best. you'll want to get a usb passthru anyway if you're going to stick with the cartomizers, so might as well start off with it, since it's a pretty good deal.
doing it for the long haul can be a little tricky to calculate. i've gone a little crazy over the past few months and am sitting on about 80 still usable cartomizers(some older models from vendors that weren't so good). they last quite a while, and if you get about 40(they come in packs of 5) along with some batteries and some juice, you should be good for a rather long time. i'm still trying to find a sweet spot with how quickly i go through them, but i usually just drop $80 on cartomizers and then just not buy any more for two months. juice can be a bit trickier, since vapor4life has a fucking awful juice selection at the moment. if i'm running low and need some juice IMMEDIATELY i'll buy from
cig easy since they have a fair selection and ship unreasonably fast within the united states. if i'm going to make a larger order of juice i'll go with
heaven gifts which is a chinese distributor that joe(dietcoke) introduced me to when i was first starting. i was kinda iffy buying from a chinese distributor at first, but i've done business with them plenty of times and never had any major problems. i bought roughly 330ML of various juice from them today and it came out to $123. that may sound like a lot, but that much juice will probably last me until june. they're better to go with if you're going to stock up, as their shipping prices are pretty obscene at the moment. worth it if you're making a large order, not so much if you're making a small order.
man i totally rambled here and i fear that there's so much WORDS here that this is not actually usable to anybody. i kinda had to assume people with zero knowledge about electronic cigarettes would be reading this - which may or may not be the case - so some or most of this info may be useless to you guys. BUT i have been doing this for a while and have a pretty good idea of how this is working at the moment. you may totally disagree with me about how great cartomizers are, but i think they're the best bet out there from what i've seen. worth trying out if you've got some spare cash laying around.
feel free to ask me questions if certain things aren't clear.
NOTE: DO NOT CLICK THESE GODDAMN LINKS OR BUY THIS SHIT FOR YOURSELF IF YOU ARE NOT A SMOKER. NICOTINE ADDICTION IS THE WORST THING ON THE FUCKING PLANET AND IT SERIOUSLY GETS ITS HOOKS INTO YOU SEEMINGLY OVERNIGHT.
