Stumble across something interesting to read? Link to it here and explain briefly what it is.

"Coverage Now for Sick Children? Check Fine Print"

oh you silly health insurance companies   they're claiming that the newly signed health care reform bill doesn't really require them to give coverage to children, at least not until 2014. The bill says pre-existing conditions will not be excluded in the coverage, and in response, they claim they'll just not cover the child at all if it has e.g. a heart defect or asthma.

edit: this is not a link dump.

People think that eating really large portions of food is a recent phenomenon but these researchers found that portion size has been increasing through time by examining paintings of the Last Supper:

This is very interesting. Not so long ago there was a guest on Democracy Now to talk about this conflict (http://www.democracynow.org/2010/3/22/arundhati_roy_on_obamas_wars_india). I knew there was an ongoing conflict right there in between India and Pakistan, but like she said, you never really hear anything about it, much less the details. I really always thought before that the natives were just caught in the crossfire and didn't really have a "side". Just printed the article, will read it later.

I've been following it for a couple years now and at the moment some of the best info you can get is available here also bannedthought.net for english translations of their publications.

And yeah the Indian state's biggest propaganda weapon is their attempt to portray the Naxalites/Maoists and rural people as separate entities.

not really an article, but

Quote
LEAK: Cover-up of murder of civilians and journalists through US forces in Iraq. Video online at: http://collateralmurder.com/

this is so completely incomprehensible to me. they thought a journalist holding a camera with a big zoom lens was an insurgent with an RPG so they decided to open fire. they killed a dozen civilians, and when a van arrived to pick up the wounded and take them to a hospital, they opened fire on the van. there were two children inside, both heavily injured from the apache helicopter's 30mm cannon fire. all the while, the crewmen are celebrating their kills.

this happened back in 2007, and the army covered it up by saying they were all obviously insurgents attacking the unit while the journalists were caught in the crossfire. the video had been requested under the FOI act back when it occurred, but we wouldn't EVER have heard anything about it had it not been leaked.

this is so disgusting. and this isn't even really an isolated incident. this happens all the time, except this time we have a video that corroborates the witnesses' accounts.

if the country you live in has troops in iraq or afghanistan (mine does), congratulations: this is what you paid for.

dude, posting uninteresting filler news is one thing but don't just dump the link here without explaining what it is or giving your opinion.

I had heard of this but had not watched the video.

This is so horrible. I guess everything else has already been said about it, but ... man ...
