Ok, so, I'm gonna put my nuts out here to be smashed with a hammer again, but I'm curious. Is there anybody out there who likes to tinker with electronics and such...amateur lighting tech, that is?

What if you treated lights and props like your instrument? It'd be really awesome for a band to not just have the same 3,4,5 guys up there, standing or sitting with their instruments, you know?

The way I figure it, a show is a visual AND audiological experience, but the visual aspect is woefully ignored. I know a couple of talented guys who do projections and stuff at bigger venues that have built-in projectors, but those guys usually want to be paid (which is reasonable), and they have more of an 'engineer' attitude than 'artist'.

Is there anybody out there who gets what I'm talking about? Or at least, knows about triggering lights with instruments/sounds?

Inquiring Minds would like to know.

I think atari was a light tech for his college or something and if I'm not mistaken couchfiend was trying to set something up for his shows but I'm not totally sure about that.
