First, make your tea with whole dried leaves, not tea beags, the reason is that common tea bags conain carcinogens.
yeah, this is something I wonder about. it says here products like paper in which EPI is used only contain "trace amounts" of the stuff. but I couldn't find any research that actually describes how much that is or what its effects are. the articles that speak out against it don't have any actual data either. I remain skeptical but I'm inclined to believe this isn't a very big deal.

I have never heard of microwaving water until I read this topic. I thought that everyone had a kettle. The idea of microwaving water is strange to me, maybe I should try it.

I love tea.  I have over 30 different types of loose leaf tea at the moment. I think my favorite though is Chinese Restaurant Tea which is a blend of oolong, green, and jasmine teas.

Edit: Forgot to mention, I buy most of my tea online.  Pearl River is the store I used to frequent often when I was living in NYC, and I've been buying from the store's website ever since I left the city.  The shipping is cheap and they've got a better variety than what I can normally find in my hometown.

Tea is the best, I drink it at least twice a day. I really enjoy variations of Ahmad teas (usually the black ones) in loose leaf form.

In terms of green tea, Genmaicha is my fave. I find that most green teas taste like nothing, so this is a good alternative for someone who never really got into green tea. It's green tea that's mixed in with roasted brown rice (the one i most recently bought actually has small pieces of popcorn in it, but it's actually supposed to be pieces of popped rice that comes from when the rice is roasted0). It's very good! Try it!

I just had a kind of white tea with jasmine flowers that bloom from inside into a shape a lot like this:

It tasted really good. This is the first time I think I've enjoyed a cup of fancy tea more than my regular black tea. I guess it sounds really gimmicky but it's a neat gimmick.

This topic makes me want to buy a microwave just to superheat water. And just out of curosity, what would happen if you superheated other liquids? Coke? Milk? I want to know.

Fuck, finally a really decent topic of WORTH!

My favourite tea at the moment is Earl Grey with milk.

You are a savage dude. MILK in TEA? MILK in EARL GREY!?!?!? You sully the sweet bergamot with cow's lactate? That is horrifying!

I drink a lot of tea, at work and at home. Or have done at lot at any rate - lately I've been drinking more pepsi than anything...

BUT YES! Tea is clearly and definitely my favourite drink. Here are some rules for a teanewbie to live their life by!!

1) Don't add milk to tea, or sugar for that matter. Drink it to appreciate the taste - putting other shit in it distracts from that.
2) If you HAVE to add milk, only do it to builder's tea (i.e. cheap store brand teabags)
3) Make your tea in a teapot - brew it up. This will be good for at least two cups!
4) Try a wide variety of teas - my current favourite is Earl Grey with Rose. My previous favourite was Lapsang Souchong. Lapsang Souchong tastes deliciously smoky. AGAIN DO NOT ADD MILK!!
5) Some people say the taste is improved by drinking tea out of china cups rather than mugs. I'm happy with either, but the latter is a little more savage.
6) Don't do the pinky thing, unless you are aiming for a homosexual encounter with visitors, or the butler.
7) If you have stomach problems, peppermint tea is wonderful for soothing your stomach. For an extra relaxing effect, try peppermint with nettles!
8) When going to a chinese restaurant, do not refer to non-chinese tea as "proper tea", unless you want a debate! Instead, order some green tea, or alternative traditional teas they may stock!

RULES FOR TEA :D!!

PS: Great job on getting into a fabulous drink!
