okay ima tell what happened
two weeks ago on friday rami and i were in a bar with a friend and rami and i decided to arm wrestle because i claimed i would beat rami with my right hand (i am left handed rami is right handed). well the match didn't really advance either way and we were at a stalemate and suddenly there was a loud sound of BONE CRACKING (like really loud, you wouldn't believe) and at first none of us realized what had just happened but after the initial shock i realized that my arm from elbow and downwards was uh.. pretty much DETACHED. it's hard to explain and it felt weird as fuck. so we quickly called an ambulance and they took me to a hospital where i was told that the bone above my elbow was broken and that my arm had to be operated.
the shitty part was that the health care situation in finland is pretty bad, there isn't enough personnel and on top of that the hospital where i was taken to takes care of all the life threatening situations in the area (which is the most populated area in finland) so unfortunately i had to wait for over 2 days before the surgery and my arm was pretty majorly fucked up and it hurt like hell. it didn't help that i wasn't given enough medication for the pain and it was only noticed just before the surgery. i mean it was so bad that i really couldn't move at all for 2 days because any little movement would hurt a lot and even staying still was painful enough.
anyway i was finally operated on sunday evening and even though they originally told me it would probably take around an hour and half, the surgery took almost 3 hours. i lost about 1/5th of my blood and they put two pieces of metal inside my arm and they are going to stay there for good. i never saw an x-ray pic of how my hand looked before the surgery but i was told it was a pretty major operation and the metal pieces inside my arm are pretty big so i suppose it got fucked up pretty majorly, especially because before the surgery i absolutely couldn't feel or move my arm at all and i could only move my fingers and wrist a bit. i have no idea how something like that could happen from ARM WRESTLING but i was told that arm wrestling puts strain on your arm and can be dangerous if it's prolonged. i'm not sure if my arm was in bad shape from working out too much or something else but i know for sure i will never arm wrestle again!
anyway, i was able to go home on monday and barring the pain and fever it was looking p.ok but on wednesday my hand started to get really swollen (imagine a hand shaped balloon, that's how it was) and it turned out the surgery wound had became inflamed so i had to go back to the hospital and got some more medication. basically since then i have been in fever (except for last 2 days) and im starting to get better finally!
anyway since people have been asking pics, here are two:
i know the whole story might sound funny (i mean ARM WRESTLING) but that weekend was seriously the worst 3 days of my life. i will probably laugh at the whole thing later on but at the moment i still don't know if my arm will even fully recover and i have to use sling for at least 6 weeks so it's really not funny at all at the moment. at least it's gotten a bit better but i still can't really do anything with my right hand, there's absolutely no strength in it at all. i can move my arm a bit but not much.
lesson of the story: don't arm wrestle, it can happen to anyone. also sorry for bad english/typos/etc typing is pain in the ass at the moment.
