RIght, i have spiffy laptop with a really good touchscreen (though i really need to get around to calibrating it properly) however, in photoshop it keeps doing somthing that makes it VERY hard to draw. when i press on the screen and move, instead of drawing a line, the whole thing scrolls around, how do i stop it from scrolling like that? i'ts very anoying and makes drawing anything zoomed in VERY difficult.

Yah know if you’re just going to be unhelpful, at least have the decency to be outright about it. I asked here because obviously i have exhausted what help resources there are (unless I missed something) and Google won't be of any help with specific a question so i decided to ask here because I thought there might be people with an ounce of intelligence, it would seem that i have been proven wrong; I think I’ll just go with my first inklinging and ask adobe themselves about this, though with my rather dubious copy i doubt they would be so forthcoming with help.
having said, there is more chance of them offering help then you lot.

What? by pointing out that the help given was a stupid reply? I do apolagise, after all it's so helpfull to reply with an answer that the person must have obviously tried, after all you can't draw using anything but the brush or pencill tools so even though i mentioned trying to draw i MUST have been using the wrong tool becasue i mentioned it won't stop scrolling when trying to draw, oh shock horror see i did it again, i mentioned SCROLING when DRAWING...

except you basically described the function of the hand tool. it is a logical step to consider the possibility that maybe you were using it!

i don't even know why i'm doing this you're impossible

First of all I suggest you try using this pseudo-stabilizer http://people.happycoders.org/kamih/wordpress/?page_id=46

I've never used it but I was told it emulates settings I constantly take advantage of in some programs that are absent in others. Although I was going to use it to try to draw in photoshop I keep remembering that as powerful as it is for image editing it is not an actual drawing program and others would serve me better.

As for the topic at hand... it sounds like a default setting from a third party controller for your touch screen that is getting in the way of photoshop. There is probably a profile or a setting somewhere made specifically for how your touchscreen interfaces with PS so if I was going to start searching for solutions anywhere I'd start there.

I've had instances where PS would flip out and pan regardless of what tool I used but tapping the space bar fixes that instantly. Your issues sounds more consistent though so I doubt this would work for you.

Thanks ghost for your helpfull reply. That lost comment, do you sort of get a hand icon? i've had that happen before, i'ts just as anoying if you don't know how to deal with it. hmm i never considdered that i could be a 3rd party thing wacking out. also thanks for the software, should be usfull. And i fixed the calibration, now it actualy goes to where i tap instead of sort of to the left it.

BTW the profile thing, where would i find that in PS?

@ geodude: i did mention rather specificly that i was trying to draw, why would i try drawing with a tool that wasn't the paint brush or pencil? I specificly mentiond that the image area would move around when i tried to draw. I'm rather insulted that you would insinuate that i'm stupid enough not to notice that i was using the wrong tool. But i digress, this is getting off topic; unless your actually going to help i'm going to ignore you.

It's not in PS. Im only assuming whatever software that came with your laptop has a profile made specifically for photoshop that forces panning whenever you try to use the touchpad with it.
