This is his latest teaser type thing. I am completely bewildered.

It seems for brief moments it flashes images in some of the frames or something-

This reminds me of those things where there is so much going on in an image you don't realise how horrible some of the things are that are happening in it because it is all just so busy it just washes over you. This is just alot of food prep, though. I mean, I think. Maybe I missed something.

edit:

well it looks like there is an animated cell and a cell of a boy getting his hair cut.

I like it. Good promo.

I think this is just images from Kojima's twitter.

If you don't follow the English version of Kojima's twitter, you should.  I have these tweets sent to my phone, and he's the only guy I do this for.  There was one day where I was getting a text message every 10 minutes with some photo of some fancy food Kojima was eating and then he ended the whole mess with "TIME TO GO EAT DINNER".  I have no clue how this man eats so much.  His twitter is 90% food, 5% Metal Gear, and 5% "I am psychic and can tell when trains are going to come".

I don't think Kojima's crazy though, I think he pretends to be crazy but I think he's really just GOOFY.

I initially hated it but I guess that's just within the context of this guy's insane I'm bewildered, how does he come up with this stuff?

I saw the flashes and they actually stay on screen for a pretty long time. the easiest way to record them all would be to take a video of the flash running and take screen captures of the flashers. looks like it's caligraphy.

By the way guys is any of this stuff REALLY that hard to come up with?  I mean how much effort does it really take to get a bunch of weird stock photos or footage and throw it up on a website with a countdown and say "this is from Kojima" and get tons of attention?  It really COULD be just photos of food from his twitter and nobody would know and they'd think he was some sort of marketing madman.  I could have done this exact same teaser, I'm not sure why people always act like these things are so brilliant or hard to come up with when it's basically just weird stock footage.

I'm not belittling the fact that it WORKS, but it doesn't take much effort to do.  Most of the work is done by the fact that everyone loves Kojima countdowns.

yeah there's nothing amazing about it at all unless your only source of creativity is videogame. but in the context of being an ad for a video game from a guy like Kojima I agree it does work and it doesn't need to be inventive. it's successful in that it clearly presents a MYSTERY to the viewer, and while that mystery doesn't seem like it'd be difficult to solve, it would take time and effort. it's like a shortened, less complex type of viral marketing that only targets existing customers and gets them talking about Kojima and MGS again

where the footage is from doesn't really matter. it seems to come from numerous different sources, like commercials and documentaries. obviously they're all about cutting. idk what the background image says yet

Yeah this is true.  I would never ever doubt that this is successful, and he does a REALLY good job at making things people pay attention to.  I just never understood the whole "OMG HOW BIZARRE HE IS SOME SORT OF GENIUS AND/OR WHAT KIND OF DRUGS IS HE TAKING????? HEH." reaction to these things.

plus he's like biggest GAMING guy doing stuff like this, so this is what j-gamesters see

here's a more complete image. sometimes when one of the mini videos changes it just shows interference snow instead of revealing another piece of the background, so this would take much longer than I thought!! some dingbat probably has it completed by now anyway

stuff like this makes me feel like kojima maybe could be in the same general ballpark as suda 51 if he wasn't going so far out of his way to be completely awful. it's kinda like he tries to be EVERYTHING but really succeeds in being NOTHING outside of a guy making awful western action film mosaics out of his games. he appears to be a reasonably creative and unique guy on some level i guess, at least as far as videogame creative people go, but everything he's made(that i'm aware of) is just horrifically derivative of something else that another guy(often himself) has beaten to death.

basically i don't like kojima because he is really one of the very few AUTEURS in the medium but invariably does nothing with it but churn out sequels and take pictures of himself trying to be cool. he's a pretty big waste of time as far as i'm concerned, which is unfortunate because it's not really because he's fundamentally bad at what he does. he just doesn't have any real interest in making anything creatively worthwhile(and has openly admitted as much in interviews at various points). just pumping the mainstream.

Kojima is like the guy who puts a picture of a cauliflower as his avatar to be zany and innovative
