Little background: The power supply on my computer was having issues but I had no trouble fixing it; however, immediately afterward my hard drive began clicking on bootup. Now it's making a "rev" sound as if its having trouble spinning and then clicking, clicking, clicking endless and freezing my computer up for a good 5 mins.
 I've done some research and from what I hear this means the inevitable death of my hard drive ... is there anything I can do to fix this or should I just start backing up my files before its TOO ALTE ​.

Well, I had the common sense to back up my files but I was wondering if I can do something to prevent my harddrive from failing at least temporarily because I can't afford to purchase a replace at the moment.

Blah.

when my external hd stopped working i put it in fridge for 30 mins and it has worked perfectly since then
