Little background: The power supply on my computer was having issues but I had no trouble fixing it; however, immediately afterward my hard drive began clicking on bootup. Now it's making a "rev" sound as if its having trouble spinning and then clicking, clicking, clicking endless and freezing my computer up for a good 5 mins.
I've done some research and from what I hear this means the inevitable death of my hard drive ... is there anything I can do to fix this or should I just start backing up my files before its TOO ALTE .

What does 'fixing it' mean for your PSU? If your HDD is dying you should be backing up files and looking for a replacement.

Well, I had the common sense to back up my files but I was wondering if I can do something to prevent my harddrive from failing at least temporarily because I can't afford to purchase a replace at the moment.

my old boss said you can replace the needle on the hard drive like the needle on a record player but he never managed to do it without breaking the hard drive and he's also a conspiracy theorist

Pretty sure even getting a tiny spec of dust on a hard drive disk is enough to destroy it

its not recomended for anyone but experienced or someone willing to risk ruining the HDD.  but Cut/remove the top plate, spray with some compressed air, and then if you want replace the top with a clear Plexiglas/plastic top. its a neat mod.. but yeah HDDs are not that expensive nowadays anyway..
