Damn you guys are good! Listened to this and almost every track was great, except for Ragnar's, which was fucking awesome. That was the first whole track I've ever heard from Ragnar and somebody better link me more soon because jeeeesuus maybe it was just the first listen but that track really sucked me in. I found some old 90 track compilation but the link was dead, can you upload some Best of Ragnar or something?

I'll listen to the whole album again later and maybe write an actual review, but this sounded way better than I had even hoped for. All of you obviously rule.

here's the other track I did for album if anyone's curious

http://soundcloud.com/supergrandmatales324/rick-steves-4-20-everyday

it is uh 13 minutes long and kind of dissonant and it probably would've broken the FLOW of the album anyway

Edit: Couple of other tracks on my soundcloud site marge simpson. I also have someplace online I dumped a bunch of stuff will link later

So here comes the review, while still listening ^^

1: t.a.s.i.a - Ours: This is awesome! Actually, I got a sneak preview of this song before release and I was actually in awe. Really great songwriting, and I didn't know you could sing that well! ^^ That's a compliment haha... Very atmospheric and nice!

2: Aer - Sin of Lust: Psychadelic... I can tell you smoke the reefer ;D

3: Ragnar - Twycross: Typical Ragnar ambience and I must say absolutely perfect for this album. I don't even know how you do it...it's beyond me...

4: John Doe - In your room: No...not for children. Not for children at all. This would suit perfectly in a independent horror movie or something like that. I'm scared...  :shady:

5: Jamie Sime - Sliders: Actually very good song writing material, but needs to be recorded better for it to be proper radio friendly. Vocals distort at times and so do other instruments from time to time. But actually a good song!

6: Gauana - Montreal2: Is this song composed mainly out of samples? Never the less - this is solid. Strongly reminds me of Radiohead, even your voice sounds kinda similar. Really like it! Totally album-ready! ^^

7: Falconshield - Frustration: Can't really review my own song so I'll just give a little info on the song. I've had it a bit rough lately, getting divorced, losing my dog and all kinds of shit...so when I had a fight with one of my best friends and couldnt really express my feelings on the matter, I couldn't sleep and eventually went up to the studio to record something, and this is it!

8: Brown - Fly so High: Atmosperic, nice and relaxing beat...I like it. Kinda feels like the song wants to put you in a trance or something :P I'd like to listen to this when I'm going to bed haha ;D

9: Magma King - Regret: Love the acoustic vibe, a nice sounding and dynamic break in the album. Cozy! :)  (and a good voice too!)

10: Bin - Talking to Strangers: Just...cover your childrens' ears  :shh: This is seriously...disturbed!  :shocking:

11: Falconshield - Nothing: Another piece of therapy-music for me. Like I said, I'm recently divorced and was a bit worried about the lack of emotion. All better now tho!

12: swordofkings - Life on Jupiter Must Suck: This is actually great, ambient game music! I could totally hear this in a video game... Songs like these(along with Ragnar's and others) makes me really happy to participate in the troubadours because I would probably never in a hundred years write anything similar... but that does NOT mean I cannot appreciate it!  Really like it!

13: Jamie Sime - One Last Thing: Beautiful piece. You should sing out stronger tho...if that makes any sense to you :)

14: Aborto Guei - Hipp Story: I don't get it. Where are the hippos? xP Another Radiohead-intermission vibe for me. Backwards is good!

15: Aer - Sinoflust(parallel): Ever weirded...if that's possible... perfect ending for the album tho!

My song has nothing but samples from two songs, the other one is Montreal by Ataxia and the other one is Montreal by Zao (whoah coincidence..) and it's mostly based around the Ataxia song. I really liked how well the two songs went together. Not very "original" I guess, it's supposed to be a mashup/remix/edit/whatever.

Ours - it's ok, i liked the low-filtered guitars at the beginning. yeah guitars are played really nicely?! maybe i would have liked it without the drum-build up - part but i think that has to do with how i felt before 1:30 mark the song didn't really proceed anywhere, not in it's vocal melody or progression or parts.
on the other hand the part after the drums - the vocal melody with harmonies is good! and then comes the drum part with the piano i don't care so much for. so i guess i don't like the drum+piano part?
in retrospect maybe the problem is that it's the starter song but yeah definitely hard to pick a good starter song for this album.

sin of lust - what the hell i'm not sure what he is trying to say but ahhaha i don't think that's the point. i like how the vocal levels are so inconsistent + wrong speakers

twycross RAGNAR ok this is really good and long enough too. sometimes you make songs like short segments but this lilla boy carried on through!! also the meaning behind twycross.

In Your Room - aaaa its baldurs gate ambient minus orchestra/classical influences. for some reason i like the consistency of PULPING even though it's propably just same sample over and over again. whoa the short spoken christmas thing was pretty cool. Yeah this is like from some game ANY game

Sliders - whoa it's rock-y, midi guitars. the vocals kinda collapse onto each other at the 1:00 mark and i don't like mentioning it since people give you too much unnecessary shit with vocals without giving a good explanation why.

Montreal - yeah uh this is the most disqualified song from the tape (you know why Guana) it's pretty good though. it's real good ya bastard

Frustration - it's metal!! aah!! haven't heard this for the longest time. the drums could have been real though, that would have added more punch to it! so uh flat drums. whoa ahaha the ending is real good.

Brown - actually this is a pretty cool track when the spoken words turns into a beat. this is cool kinda like car commercial/ambient breaks music. Brown i didn't know you are capable of this...

Magma King - really good drumsound, together with the shortspoken, lowsung vocals + fitting guitars makes up this "Jesus Doesn't Want Me For a Sunbeam" effect Nirvana had. pretty good vocals again! when you start talking/singing more around/at the center of the song the vocal melody kind of blurs which isn't so good thing.
this was a pretty good song! pretty good production and uh mature song for an amateur production like troubadours. maybe it was bit confusing in how after the blurred vocal melody it turned into the recorder sound plus vocals (it got bit sloppier here but it's fine) and then got back into the song for some time and huh. what am i trying to say, well in some way this made the song shorter than what it was.

Bin - man i should listen to lyrics/desciphre lyrics more BUT i like how this one sounds! the bellsound is a good idea and it sounds like the real thing. yeah actually this is nice, reminds me of ahaha all those wacky sound collage songs from the past gw troubadours.

Nothing - good vocals, good feel. whoa turned into postrock at the i wanna feel - part. kinda short though!!

swordofkings - i really noticed the piano what the hell? do you have classical studies behind you or what, is it a sample= impressionism beatles what the... the distortion-explosions/thunders whoa cool!! i wish your song would have been this with the improvised piano!! the song parts didn't really make sense but it goes straight to jamie's song which is a good idea when thinking of the album

One Last Thing - holy shit what a great transition from swordofkings song. aaah the buildup! whoa clear vocals and in different style. it was kind of short since there wasn't a real climax but yeah, i thougth it was AURALLY pretty good sounding and it seemed to build really nicely so i liked this more than Sliders.

Hippo Style - whoa hiss and watery guitar (phaser) with backwards effects. whoa kashmir phasing low-rumble on both speakers. who the hell did this song?! it's one minute and i really like it. somebody with animal collective/hipster influence right... maybe i can't tell. whoa the dissonant chords at the end what a good suprise. so this is Braid music right. aww it ended.
it reminded me of those short, obscure possibly ambient songs in hipster records that seem like a pretty common thing but i liked it anyways. fuck the haters heres an exception to my rule. AAAAAAAAA so it's Mince Wobley?! i had no idea!! this is good dude.

sin of lust (parallel) - yeah i liked this so much more than the original version now it's just honest more obscure than a trying to be a rap beat.

Basically, don't take any hard feelings from my review since i wrote that stuff on the spot for every song. I have different perception to things just like any other people. I didn’t even BOTHER trying to listen to the lyrics and yeah that’s rude but that’s my ‘tude. first aural experience then literal dismantling for me.

Marge made a pretty good point that all of the songs here are actually SOLID and pretty good and i can't remember any other troubadour that it has been consistently solid like this? Even people like Brown, Mince Wobley and Aer who -  i had no idea that they made music and i thought Aer was pretty young judging from his way of speak - all made good tracks.
Lot of the songs were pretty minimalistic/barebones and HONEST and whoa that’s always a good achievement! I’m glad falconshield allowed those songs to be released to the internet/in Gw in particulary. and i guess stuff like gazzwa’s shepherds or mine could have fitted right in but quo vadis? que sera.

Interestingly this was almost entirely ELECTRO album which added to the consistency a whole lot. I think you succeed in the tracklisting and I don’t think album introduction was required. There wasn’t really a album-wide buildup or even a story but I think that’s not very easy at all with material like this? Besides considering it’s Troubadours that consists entirely of people’s eager to honest VOMITING most of the time than anything else, yeah I don’t think that’s necessary at all. Also yeah I wanted  the cover art to be EXACTLY like that from ed’s version so uh GREAT MINDS THINK ALIKE.

So uh bottom line is that it was a really good fucking troubadours album. Without the context? A honest, atmospheric album with consistent, good output of songs and welp looks like our age and experience is “bleeding” right through heh *puffs a pipe cross-eyed with coxswain avatar grey beard*

THe differences between the Sins of Lust is the Song in Track 2, Was the previously recorded version of my song when I had trouble with FL Studio, Thus all instruemtns and all vocals where recorded sepratly then saved... but not Perfectly allighned and no effects on my voice.  The Parralell is the Proper recording of the song with some autotune on my voice and a vocal/instrument blend with the tin whistle...

Also, Falconsheild Im possible the most Openly Stoned Member on GW. Not afraid to admit it haha, but why can you "Tell" I smoke reefer? haha :D

All in all great album, I'll try to do my own review later on...

I don't really feel the need to write a song by song critique. Jamie, buy yourself a mic and an USB ASIO box it'll make you feel super. You'll be able to do so much more with a greater clarity. You have superb direction in your songs you just need to sharpen up the execution. Josse, stop being so awesome I'm having difficulty keeping up with your I-have-a-studio-in-my-fucking-loft Swedish arse.

My fave 2 tracks were 12 and 13. I really wish I could meet up with some of you guys and record some music it would be a worthy waste of money doing so.

The tracks that were more like horror movie sounds were interesting but not what I expected. In the end it was a bit like going from the comfort of listening to a pop song followed by a kinda unwanted transition to Josef Fritzl's family dungeon music to metal to MAYBE we should've specified what. I don't know. I want my duvet now.

Whoever tasia is needs to stop listening to Coldplay and stop copying and pasting guitar parts because that's really cheap and nasty. Should probably get some proper drum VSTis and learn some better drum patterning cause they were a bit naff too. The vocals were ok I guess. Too many mid ranges not enough bass.

Atari is a mingebag for not contributing. I hope he falls down a well so he can be be in an environment that reverberates as much as the disappointment I feel. What a slap to the face. You and me are through.

Magma King - really good drumsound, together with the shortspoken, lowsung vocals + fitting guitars makes up this "Jesus Doesn't Want Me For a Sunbeam" effect

Hippo Style - - so this is Braid music right.

Got the exact same thoughts about Jesus Doesn't Want Me For a Sunbeam and Braid. The Jesus Doesn't... effect is actually in the chords, I got it right after the first two chords + acoustic guitar sound. Braid is of course just the rewind thing but still, it was the first thing that popped into my mind.
