Hey folks.

I'm looking for some campy horror movies to watch. Ones that don't take themselves seriously at all and are almost comedies because they're so bad. I know that there are TONS from the 1980-2000 period, but all I have is House of the Dead, which is from around 2002 or so, and is also a horrendous movie.

Any recommendations?

Happiness of the Katakuris.  It's not exactly horror, but it's close enough and it's a v. fun watch.

The Evil Dead series and Drag Me to Hell.  Can't go wrong with Sam Raimi!

Actually I for some reason remember him saying in an interview that he doesn't like how popular asian culture is in the west so he probably wouldn't want to be known for that. Mebbe you should check your facts roman...? -.-;

I think this is the least relevant post ever made. Let's get on topic guys. 'Carry On Zombies'.

'Carry On Zombies'.
The title alone makes me chuckle. I can't find the movie though, is it very obscure?

Any horror movie made by Troma is automatically campy.

Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead

That's just one example of their work.  You can see the full movie on  Hulu.

The humor in Raimi movies are intentional, though. Not sure if this makes a difference for you, but whatever.

All you really need to do is go to your local video store and go to the horror section. It is harder to find movies that don't fit your description than it is to find what you want. Some movies are just so bad that they are unwatchable though (such has Fear of Clowns, and The Mangler Reborn, which you should avoid like the plague.) But you can't go wrong with one of the later Nightmare on Elm Street movies for "so bad it's hilarious" quality. Especially the 6th one.

Haha, I am definitely going to check out that movie. It looks hilariously bad.

Campy horror = automatic win for me, as long as it doesn't go overboard.

Some of my favorites:
Sleepaway Camp
Tales of the Crypt: Bordello of Blood
House of a 1000 Corpse
A Nightmare on Elm Street 4
Demons
My Blood Valentine (2009)
House on Haunted Hill (1999)
Dead Alive
Final Destination 3
Planet Terror (that was intentionally made to be OTT camp, though)
Saw VI (the campiest of all the Saw films, and subsequently the most enjoyable one since the second one)
Jennifer's Body

Black Christmas and Sorority Row tried to be camp but they just sucked (to me).

The last really good campy horror flick I saw I can't remember the name of.

All I remember is the entire plot involving this Mexican night club that acted as a front for vampiritic activities. The movie might have been named after the night club, or at least if I could remember that detail I would figure out the name of the movie in no time flat.

I'm sure someone has to know about it and can remember for me. It just felt like a classic when I was watching it, and the fact I can't peg a name on it when I remember it so well is driving me crazy!

I didn't see all of it (saw the first like 70% but I was streaming it through netflix and the internet went out and I never finished it), but you should check out Fido.  If you just read the plot and see the cover of the DVD it looks like overly cheesy and really idk STUPID but then when you watch it it's actually REALLY MADE WELL in a way that you would never expect.  What I saw of it was pretty damn good.

Really I cannot stress enough how bad this movie seems like it would be.  I saw it in a store once and immediately put it back down because it looked and sounded like it would be unbearably stupid in an unenjoyable way.  But, now I'm glad my brother talked me into watching it.  I really need to download it and watch the end of it.

I'm a HUGE fan of Fido and have already watched it. Yeah, it's a pretty enjoyable movie. The premise is pretty much hilarious.
