Louis CK isn't dumb. If you watch his interviews he explains that every time he makes a silly overblown self-righteous complaint about some other person's stupidity/impatience/etc. he's talking about himself in a cloaked self-critical way and making up the part about the other person which makes him a little more endearing to me. He likes to run with absurd/offensive banal little thoughts and is pretty good at making funny critiques of everyday life while having fun with a self-mocking presentation of the "self-righteous comedian" cliche.

I see where you're coming from. I dunno, that sorta stuff is understandable because I know where he's coming from but a lot of people laugh at it for the wrong reasons so yeah it might not be appropriate on his part. When you hang out with gay dudes who you can laugh and make fag/AIDS jokes from the ignorant straight boy perspective in a self-deprecating way and have laughs all around which is what I'm sure he does but if you do it to a crowd of bros I'm sure you can have a sorta meta laugh at how you can make these completely ignorant statements and idiots eat it up but it's pretty masturbatory and just looks bad to everyone else. i like his family jokes though because it's funny and absurd to hear someone bitch about the things we overlook out of love in our family lives so while those jokes are always gross and stupid they're also pretty heartwarming cuz you can tell he loves his kids a lot & is probably a sweet dad

actually that reminds me of the one of the reasons i've got it in my head that he is an ugly guy. there's that one show where they are some (i guess apparently female) hecklers/loud people in the audience and he starts going on like 'why don't you shut up you fucking cunt. 'oh i'm a woman, i can do whatever the fuck i like'. no-one is interested in what you have to say!' and that is pretty bad. go on to any youtube video of stand up where a woman makes herself known in any way and there will be a flood of comments like 'STUPID FUCKINGF BITCHES NEED TO SHUT THEIR MOUTHS' and all of that.

yeah well misogyny kinda comes with divorces. but fuck hecklers/loud people at comedy shows anyway... if that is your life it's probably pretty shitty for someone to do that and if you can call them a cunt/get a cheap laugh out of it then go for it.

in hilarious which is his new movie thing he explains it as trying to offend the crowd because he thinks it's funny to hear them get offended. i don't entirely buy it and i remember another sketch where he essentially said he does it because naughty words make him laugh

^that^. my mom divorced my dad and i can see where it skews my judgment of women and im not even the one who got divorced. and i have a huge respect for anyone who has the courage to get up on stage and perform something that they created, so fuck hecklers. whatever they get is what they deserve.

the problem with this is that making statements like that towards women doesn't just affect the hecklers.  suddenly you've alienated all the women in the audience because a few dumb bitches won't shut their mouths.

if you call a woman heckler a cunt, you aren't necessarily calling all women cunts. you are just calling that woman a cunt. if you aren't the one being called a cunt a don't understand why you would be offended, unless you are just offended by people insulting other people in which case sex shouldn't matter and you should be equally mad with the heckler and the comedian.

well, The Big C has different meanings in different parts off the world but generally (definitely in the us) if it's directed at women specifically it is directed at all women because the word has nothing but negative and hateful meaning and is by definition female, and is a way of thinking about women that causes/enforces inequality and oppression. i mean this is a really basic point about prejudice/hate, and i could draw an easy comparison with pretty much any other kind right now but i won't because it always seems so dramatic and baiting. someone like bill hicks should have known better than to go off like that, and in a context like a comedy club where the levels of sexism are already ridiculous come on.

dropping a whore or slut or some stupid unexamined witless bullshit about their experiences or opinions regarding women is something almost every fucking stand up comedian does. i can't laugh at it anymore once they start with that. even some people i like go into it a bit - come to think of it, when dealing with hecklers or loudness - like neil hamburger will occasionally scream 'whore!' when telling someone in the audience to shut up and now he is playing this gross despicable character so it's a bit different but he's got to know just like i know that there are 50 guys in that room thinking 'woo! tell that bitch! gotta learn to keep her mouth shut.'.

actually i have never been to or seen a live stand up show where this exact problem didn't ruin my already middling enjoyment of the night. they just can't help themselves.
