yeah it wasn't a trade I don't know why I wrote that. I was just wondering what a nats fan thought. phillies fans are kind of mixed I guess, but less so now that losing him meant getting cliff lee. werth's great defensively you guys should have a pretty good outfield going

back to toons, there was a cartoon drought for a while. like the drake & josh era. there really weren't any good new cartoons on. spongebob was really on its last legs as was ed, edd and eddy and there wasn't anything to fill the gap besides maybe billy and mandy. introducing garbage like total drama island and whatever else? fosters wasn't any good at all past the pilot iirc

there are good cartoons on now, though. chowder is supposed to be great for kids, and stuff like adventure time, flapjack and regular show are just good. especially adventure time, I feel like they accidentally stumbled upon something great because the the original Nickelodeon short was actually kind of terrible for the most part

haha I really have no idea what's on Nickelodeon anymore I just consider it like a DEAD TV STATION is Adventure Time really any good I dunno I just associate Nickelodeon's humor so much with 90's only a 90's person could carry the torch it is not a job to be handled lonely by god's forsaken 00's people with their auto-tune and such

even like the bumpers between the shows on old Nickelodeon where great, and the commercials that they chose to run on the channel. And like fonts

edit: srsly people from the 00's have no talent

Edit: I'm totally exaggerating plz don't flame

Edit: Don't mind me I really have to watch youtube videos 90's COMPILATION figure out what it is exactly. I totally agree it might be nostalgia not knowing the SOURCE of things probably makes 90's people seem so creative like where the fuck did DOUG come from but it might just be Charles Schulz + (unknown artist - track 2) basically creator made Charlie Brown into an adult. But yeah 90's stuff would've been just this flood of stuff coming from nowhere being made by no-one and I guess that could be a powerful force. When I was trying to get into X-Files again I found a tape and it had EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEWS with him and like he based this one episode off when his dog had worms and it was lol. But it was amazing to like hear him talk so the X-Files doesn't just get magically beamed through the TV? Also I just looked up Steven Spielberg I may have never seen a picture of him before. Now he probably has a blog and shit you can look up Steven Spielberg's thoughts anytime.  But I dunno stuff today always seems like not UNIRONIC unironic is too easy an answer although everybody does Tim and Eric everything the fuck up these days has to be all meta about it. Maybe it is irony though I looked up the director of Equilbrium one time (lol cult favorite) and it said he wanted to make a movie about dolphins but couldn't raise a budget for it. And I was like lol dolphins but I think if someone just unironically made a movie about how dolphins are great I would die because my brain couldn't handle it. I guess March of the Penguins was similar just movie about penguins. It still felt like it was trying to make me experience some kind of rapture via footage of penguins I just mean have a movie about penguins and/or dolphins that isn't "life-changing" (end quote)

Edit: yeah Darren Aronofsky he basically exemplifies what I hate about the 00's somebody on other forum said 'well I think he's trash but he does always have something really resonant in his movies' that's exactly what bothers me it feels like he directs movies completely around random resonant/ineffable moments does the guy even like the concept of a fountain of youth anyway?? I don't even think it's psychologically healthy watching movies like that

no adventure time is on cartoon network now. only the bad original short was on nickelodeon. maybe talking about it ruins it a little because it does kinda come out of nowhere like the stuff you're talking about, it's not like formulated to be a successful cartoon based upon the spongebob principle and the Friends Six rule

but yeah i think I'm solidfying my concept of why I hate stuff from the 00's or at least late 00's I think there is this sort of non-sexual non-violent (um by this I mean not necessarily/not dependent on being violent or sexual) shock value to everything even THE OFFICE is filmed all shaky cam suddenly the camera jumps to some random person's shocked expression at something Steve Carell did probably these shots are about 64% of the show. It is shocking that people are shocked I am shocked too by proxy. Why is any comedy show filmed like the bourne ultimatum

are there youtube videos where people experiment with the office as a 90's style sitcom filmed the same way as MURPHY BROWN or something. I mean The Office is good but it's kind of a bitch to current FILMIC trends it will look very outdated in 5/10 years

edit: let's do a GW thing where we pitch a movie to a major studio where the entire plot is "I want to film a dolphin movie because dolphins are awesome" it will have no existential/angsty moments and will employ no sort of HDR state-of-the-art photography that makes you disappointed to look at anything in real life. It will also be narrated by james earl jones or someone because morgan freeman is too "lol it's morgan freeman"

Edit: lol james earl jones is a republican

Edit: please morgan freeman can't be the new black guy who narrates everything james earl jones voice sounded like it just EXISTS voice of god/voice you imagine when reading books

Not sure that this was marketed as a children's show, but one of my favorites as a child and now is Ren and Stimpy.  It's so perfectly demented that it gets me laughing every time.

what's funny about this is once they made ren & stimpy without the threat of censors (i think they did a few eps for spike tv??), the result was pretty terrible, the vulgarity went through the roof but the humor just wasn't there. this is a good example of writers having to be more creative when they're reigned in i guess.

I'm sure that most people who resort to crude humor just do it because it's the easy route to laughs from the lowbrow fans, possibly because they're of the same mentality. Removing those restrictions means they can make something with less effort than they normally would. There are exceptions that prove the rule because they take the time to put thought and effort into the crude humor, such as Panty and Stocking or Oglaf.

thank god another oglaf fan

i'm going to check out panty and stocking btw everything i have read and seen about it is so good

I like the early seasons of Pokemon (up to the tournament), the Zelda cartoon, Super Mario Bros Super Show, and Captain N.  Mostly due to nostalgia I suppose.

lol.

Awright people, here we go. The children's  cartoons I like to this day.....

-----

The Fairly Odd Parents - Timmy is a very lovable main character imo. And the nature of the characters/world gives them limitless potential for storylines.

The Weekenders - The plot is basically the same every single episode but I enjoy the quirky characters and humor that hasn't been dumbed down for kids. It's a very funny show and I get this nice fuzzy feeling from watching it (...)

Stickin' Around - Minus the plot point, I like this show for the same reasons as the above. Except I started watching Stickin' Around probably 10 years prior so nostalgia+++

Spongebob Squarepants - Lovable protagonist, funny, low on moral-throat-shoving.

Dexter's Lab - Lovable protagonist, funny, low on moral-throat-shoving.

Samurai Jack - omg this show was AMAZING. I miss it a lot.

X-Men - Animation was guud.... I liked the long story arcs.

Avatar: The Last Air Bender: A lovable protagonist and I really like the animation. I even got season 1 on DVD. Also, it isn't moral-based as many children's shows are.

I used to love "Angry Angry Beavers" but I haven't seen it in so many years I barley remember it. Same goes for "Pepper Ann". I still sing the theme song all the time, though.

I enjoyed Teen Titans when it was on. Neat animation, fun story arcs and characters.

I used to watch Hey Arnold! before school, and sometimes after school. I REALLY liked the vibe of that show. It was like, inner city, but still close-knit... a sense of community in an urban jungle. Whatever, it was neat.
