Well...  my old desktop died, and I wanted to replace it.  I have no idea as to the inter workings of a computer, though I heard its not too hard.  Still I'm worried I would still fuck something up, since I'm kind of know to do that...

Anyways, I was wondering if you guys knew of a store/website that would allow me to choose what I want to put into the computer, they build it, and mail it to me.  But I also don't want a place that's going to overcharge me like Alienware does.  (Seriously...  $2000 for a laptop that's worse than my old $700 desktop.  If it wasn't a gift, I'd be royally pissed)

I know Newegg is probably the cheapest route, but as I said, I would rather not take a chance of screwing something up, when I put it together.  At least if it gets damaged in the shipping I can get a refund, or have it resent and whatnot.

Well thanks for butchering what I was saying but yes everything needs to match but I didn't feel like going in to detail what makes them match like the socket, making sure the motherboard has the same PCI slot for your video card, make sure witch DDR ram is supported on your motherboard and Ect.

I was just trying to make a simple statement without going in to detail.

Thanks everyone, I think I have all my parts in orders.  Now all I need to do it salvage the power supply from my old comp.  (It wasn't hurt, hopefully) and possibly the Hard Drive.

I don't know exactly what happened, but when I started my computer, the BIOS Screen had a bunch of white |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| across the screen(and over the normal words), and when it boots to the Windows 7 screen, it get garbled even more.  It shouldn't have been a virus (since I browse the same sites on this comp), so I think the motherboard or graphics card died.

(if anyone knows what the problem is/could be, let me know, I wanna know what I can bring from my old computer to the new one)

EDIT:

This is what I'm getting so far, does anything look like it won't fit together?  I'm pretty sure I got everything squared away, but I'm double checking here.

Case: Antec Three Hundred Illusion Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
Motherboard: ASUS P7P55D PRO LGA 1156 Intel P55 ATX Intel Motherboard
Video Card: EVGA 01G-P3-1450-TR GeForce GTS 450 (Fermi) 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card
Memory: CORSAIR XMS 4GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 Desktop Memory (single stick, room for 3 more)
Processor: Intel Core i5-750 Lynnfield 2.66GHz LGA 1156 95W Quad-Core Processor
Hard Drive: Western Digital Caviar Green WD5000AADS 500GB SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Hard Drive -Bare Drive
OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 64-bit 1-Pack for System Builders

I'm going to be re-using my old power supply (Video card says it recommends a 550 watt, mine's a 600 watt) And I'll also be re-using my DVD drive.

Some old power supply might not have the proper pin that you may need

Edijust read the whole thing) also that's bad that's just the video card at full load will take up 550 watt I suggest to get a better PowerSupply  since that is not including the fans and board... and I can guarantee that the fans and the power to your board will jump 50W threshold that you planed... Don't get me wrong it will run till you strain the Video card and it will make your Computer power down.

If I was a gambling man 700w would be fine but I like to be safe then sorry so I would be the kind of guy to boost it up by 50w which would be 750 (but that's just me... in fact my power supply was probable my biggest investment on my PC because I have future plans to use it letter for a different build when I save a good amount of money)

But I will give you some merit some power supply do give out little more then what is sated (and in one case I saw a PSU that was way underrate for it's wattage but there rare and if I tried to search newegg I might find it once more.) but That's when there brand new the wattage can decrees over time.

Also I hear Nivdia"s Video cards Are huge so pray that baby fits.

Also can you make links of what your getting so It's easy to make sure you have them "squared away"?

I did run the whole setup (All parts, not just the Video Card) through this site http://www.extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp (linked from the thread DietCoke linked), and it came to 351 Watts. The link from Newegg said it was suggested, not required.  Nevermind.... that was the 460, not the 450 (the one in my link doesn't mention needing a specific wattage)

Case
Video Card
RAM
Motherboard
Processor
Hard Drive

EDIT:  My old Power supply has a 20+4 pin, and this Motherboard is a 24 pin, just like my old one.

Well it might just work I heard this card unlike the other ones takes up less power so it will work.

Also everything looks good too me at least what I can see...(other PSU which I can not see.)
