Eyes Without a Face is a very short adventure game made under one week for a Halloween Contest at an English community. The contest was called "Scary Movie" and we had to make a game that is either based off of or inspired by a horror film. Our team picked "Les Yeux Sans Visage," a 1960s French film directed by Franju.

I've seen the advertisements for this contest at said "English community" but never cared to play any of the entries. I must hand it to your team on the visuals, though, they're mighty impressive if not a little bit dark - hopefully that doesn't put a damper on the experience. I'm downloading this right now, and will reply with some comments when I beat it or don't care to play anymore, most likely the former.

Also, what's the deal with translating the game description to German at the bottom? It caught me off guard and I thought it was a little bit amusing. I'm going to assume that the RPG Maker community has a fairly large fanbase among the Germans, or that you just wanted to be random.

Oh, I had a friend of mine translate this into German and I posted it on German forums because I am more active there than English forums sometimes. I just went around copying and pasting this without removing it. I posted this game at a lot of non-English websites, so I kept the German there incase someone who didn't read English knew the other.

Okay, so I was too busy yesterday to finish playing this game, but I finally have today and, since no one else has commented, I figured that I could go ahead and give a brief review.

From the point that I watched the intro cutscene start until the ending credits rolled by, not once did I ever consider whether or not team knew how to create a fun adventure game. Every bit was aesthetically pleasing, the atmosphere felt dark and macabre, creeping around the estate was suspenseful, and clear attention was paid to details. The dialogue/monologue felt a little bit shoddy and unconvincing at points, and the pace seemed to move a little bit too fast in the beginning; still, for a game that was created in a five day period, I have to commend everyone who took part for creating a marvelous little game. With that said, I would love to see what this team could crank out with a longer time allotment.

By the way, I don't know if anyone has made note of this yet, but I noticed a spelling error inside one of the rooms in which I'm not trying to be overly pedantic here, but I figured that you may want to correct it, in case you haven't already.

I print screened the mistake to further point it out.

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, I wish I had more time to brush up on some things ... such as the mashing minigame, and etc. Though I never used VX up until now so it was tough. It was a pretty bad idea to use an engine I am not familiar with, but the game would not look nearly as nice in RM2K3.

I don't know if something is up, but I tried the 1.1 version (it said final), and I went through the first button mashing game and seems like no matter what, I insta-lose. No matter how hard I smash, same outcome. Its seemingly impossible, for some reason. Nor is there really any instruction on when to begin.. Shame for right now, I wanted to see the rest of the game. :/

Really? I don't know what happened because it works for everyone. You have to hit it repeatedly then run.
