thanks drule. I just found out about the outbox thing recently

Remember those old Final Fantasy fansites where the site was a "town" and the different sections were represented by buildings like the "INN" that you had to click?
The world wasn't ready in the 90s. In the 21st century, the world is ready for this idea.
gaiaonline had this but I think they eventually scrapped it for gaiatowns. they had a city with shops and a link to the forums and a guild hall and a bunch of surrounding areas that would sometimes change depending on the storyline. it's Gaia I know but I thought it was pretty neat at the time

Going to New Jersey/NYC the first or second week in April.  What's cool to do there?

BOOOOOO . . . .
Actually if you look under the "World' tab you can still navigate Gaia via the world map.

Also, i found the  allowed message settings under "My Messages> Preferences."
Everyone has the right to be himself; wise men know how to,when, and whether to navigate the boundary between their rights and those of others when they collide.

ahahaha so do modern schools today finally have up-to-date pencil sharpeners or do they still have those weird vice-looking things from the 1940s. Or is it completely obsolete now everyone writes on their iPad (that girl from Inspector Gadget was actually a CIA mole (the one cartoon ever enlisted to the CIA) planted by Apple 20 years ago and invented the idea of her having this cool book-computer-PDA thing so they could sell ipad to those kids in the future i.e. it's cool in a cartoon that there is this one hi-tech book thingy that only genius little girl has somehow this is the only one in the world that exists, but in real life it's spoiled rich kid thing and is horrible consumerism but I like how it is almost cartoon shit that it can do like TURNS INTO A GUITAR AMP CAN BLOW OUT CANDLES the kind of features only a cartoon should be able to contrive some need for/the opportunity to be implemented but it's a real thing that someone makes an excuse to use help)

also that Gaia Online thing hahaha that's like I imagine how anybody over 40 imagines the internet should be - something like 3D N64 graphics version of a supermarket when you go on amazon.com and you see some crude 3d rendering of a hand picking up a generic box of whatever the item is with a blurry texture map of the CD cover etc. it also renders at 0.5 frames a second and takes 15 minutes to look at a single thing. I do kind of wish people had more fun with website design though like I don't even see too much sites that look like NOTEBOOK PAPER etc. or restaurant websites that try hard to look convincingly like a menu/hotel sites that totally look like a guestbook. Maybe it was a trend but already got old in 1997 (if anything's old fashioned but in modern times I just say nobody's done that since 1997) I checked out wtf the Huffington Post is because of the merger shit and it kind of has that newspaper headline writing and I really like that someone would implement this on a website it's not like it's HARD basically websites are perfect for making a magazine/newspaper layout in real time but nobody implements this well/is suddenly worried about offending people's senses even though it could be the website for THE STAR (I dunno name a magazine/newspaper with painful design/aesthetics)

wtf http://weeklyworldnews.com/ the layout is so generic it's like a site where you would download linux drivers

the inspector gadget thing I mean people who mod their Sega Genesis to make a portable Genesis or make a USB-powered spatula, it's still pretty dork but at least on the scale of meaning something it's still lightyears ahead of oh wow I gots an iPad, even if at its core they just wanted to cosplay as some genius inventor character LUCCA etc. I think if I heard somebody in real life did that I would be kind of impressed, internet is so horrible with this stuff like 'that's nice have you cured cancer or brought down Scientology yet' I'm kind of interested if it will bring some ridiculous social change/status quo at the very least everyone will quit their band because they feel so GENERIC DUDES after searching Myspace hours on end. Hahaha that's best/worst case scenario but I still think internet culture is kind of weird about color/exuberance everything must be glassy textures/cadet blue/minimal techno it's like agnosticism as a web design aesthetic or uh not agnostic it's like SECULAR or something secular/political correctness. Somebody show me cool artsy web pages and/or outsider-y Angelfire pages

Did you ever watch Nickolodeon's Space Cases? It was made in the 90s, and every kid uses these iPad things instead of paper and pencil.  These kids' TV shows are prophetic!

edit:  I also like the fact that the Talkboy never existed until Home Alone came out, and kids started writing their congressmen, demanding that these gadgets be marketed.

yeah I did but I don't remember that. Basically everything Apple does is like fake future it's all some weird creeper stuff entire industry based on allaying people's insecurities 'wtf it's 2011 where are all the flying cars why isn't marijuana legal yet help me obama' (wants to ride flying cars while high and simultaneously downloading apps for their iPad and youtubing the president)

I wonder if anyone has modded their cellphones/smartphones to look all steampunk they probably wouldn't intend it but I would thoroughly enjoy the implied gesture of this. Or some Issac Asimov phone

my prediction: all future movies from the 90's it was futuristic to have computer screens/keyboards mounted on these kiosks jutting out of the wall. Somehow Apple will find a way to market this - a PC the size of an ATM that runs at half the speed. If they make it smooth/streamlined/white enough at least 2 million people will buy one

edit: damnit I wish I had that webpage it was all these random gadgets ELECTRIC SHAVERS from the 70's and it was these mint condition scans of the packaging/magazine ads, and seeing them all new and shiny the idea of futuristic stuff in the 70's seems newer/more bizarre than stuff today like just some really unusual/arcane/million years ahead of its time sort of visual language to it

I wish this had to do with the video game

ahahaha has anyone done that, somebody somewhere please make a 3D game by somehow modding like BETTER HOMES AND GARDENS HOME DESIGNER engine one of those random programs they sell at Staples and stuff. I almost bought one of these 10 million years ago in 1997 because I thought it would be cool to just make a living room for no reason

Maybe the next logical step for Apple is to develop perfect voice recognition computers with flawless UI as seen in so many movies.  "COMPUTER, TURN ON.  LOAD THE IMAGE.  ENHANCE!"

did they do the completely perfect/accentless(?)/supposed to be calm and soothing but actually really eerie female voices when stuff happens on the computer

also the voice recognition thing this is another thing old people think about when they imagine their ideal magic computer but nobody from this generation would really care I think, because it's so much easier to just click on it. Is DRAGON NATURALY SPEAKING the scummy buggy rip-off software I'm imagining it is, lol it's still scummy but I'm now I'm more sympathetic to the company because most people who buy are probably partially doing it to roleplay that they're from the future

haha the news they were talking about tension headaches how you can cure it with a pencil and they cut to this random black guy being interviewed somewhere 'ahhh so it relieves the tension' the most implied chinstroke you can possibly do verbally I see said the blind man

The show is on YouTube (VHS recordings) but I don't see any ubiquitous talking computers yet.

today i bought a denim work shirt thing which had 'NEMad III Wadi Sura KG 70-1' embroidered on the chest. i thought wadi sura was maybe the name of whoever used to own this but I looked it up and it means 'valley of images' in egyptian and there is a place in egypt called this. if you google image it you get a bunch of pictures of cave art.

are you talking about a real Brian Eno song if so link please

my MOM was into Brian Eno (implying women/family can't like interesting music) but in the back of my head I have this theory that there was a 78% chance I heard Brian Eno music while in the womb (Soothing Sounds for Fetus)
