Aside from the game being the bastard lovechild of Sluggy's Adventure and 4chan it's a pretty neat game. It's like a well-polished Game Maker platformer except crammed with unlockables and game modes.

Even if I don't really agree with the huge following it's gotten from the indie scene I think it's cool to see indie games taking a step up from being rough in their presentation to qualifying for Steam and Xbox Marketplace. Every segment of the game has a great level of detail put into them. Every world has an animated intro and an outro - as do most bonus levels - and there are tons of neat sections with their own specific cutscenes, art directions and themes that are only unique to those areas.

So yeah. The game's prolly worth getting if you're willing to pay for a polished indie run and jump platformer. Anyone else tried it?

ofWow, that's nuts. I read on the Meat Boy blog that there was some weird Twitter flamewar involving PETA, but I had no idea that PETA went out of their way to make a Meat Boy spoof.

I have a hard time believing they spent more money on this game than Team Meat did on Super Meat Boy though. Tofu Boy seems to be a direct clone of the original Meat Boy game which was just a bad Newgrounds platformer.

Also I like the look of desperation in Tofu Boy's face. It's like he knows he's in an inferior vegan knockoff game.

I guess it's kind of funny but you just know how awful internet people will respond to the epic peta pwnage

I'm playing tofu boy and one of the "tips" it gives you at the end of every stage is "Red meat can lead to impotency, obesity, and loss of girlfriend"

I agree and disagree with making or desiring a polished, steam-friendly game. I guess it's good that people can make their own game and get it out there but it also kinda violates what makes playing or making an indie game attractive in the first place. like I dunno if I would ever consider buying a game with such an internet-marketable concept as Meat Boy. it does not surprise me that this idea originated on newgrounds

I don't get what you mean with the 4chan stuff, but whatever

I also don't get how paying for an indie game defeats the purpose, but anyway

This game is awesome and goddamn frustrating. I've been waiting forever for it to come out on Steam since I don't have an x360, and then I was busy all week and started playing it Friday. Holy shit, it's awesome, but so frustrating. Anyone who's ever had an interest in playing tough platformers and persevering through them (I wanna be the Guy, the original Meat Boy, Unfair Platformer, whatever) should absolutely get this game.

Though I guess unlike IWBTG and Unfair Platformer, the difficulty isn't cheap random hidden traps, but just very nerve-racking and reflex oriented traps and shizmoes and whatelse.

I'm in love with this game ok :O

I didn't even say anything about paying for a game did I? I was talking about designing a game to be polished and sellable

Is this game pretty much the same as Jumper? The videos give me the same impression of the jumper series games and I really liked those games.

Yeah, the game play is a lot like jumper.  Ogmo is actually an unlockable character!

I've beaten the game, and have almost beaten all the Dark World levels, and I must say, it is just incredibly difficult.  Some of the warp zones to get special characters are just insane (like the I Want To Be The Guy zone).  The production values are off the charts too, and the music is catchy.
Overall, I have to say it is the best arcadey platformer I've ever played, and for a $15 value, I surely have gotten my entertainment out of it.

i don't think that video games as a whole really have anything other than attention to detail. presently. this looks/sounds good. apparently it runs on Wine so since i'm paid at the moment i'm pick up a vidgame controller and buy it (gravis gamepad pro that served me for years has stuck button.) if the developers were willing to go on record saying they think it has better controls than mario, i'm willing to play it.

I've been massively addicted to this game since I got it a few weeks ago. I've pretty much got A+ on most of the Light World and Most of the Dark World. At the moment I'm just trying to get all the bandages and finish up some of the more difficult levels. I've pretty much loved everything about this game, from it's presentation to just how hard it is. One of my favourite things is the fact that all the unlockable characters come from other games! This has led to me looking up some of the games the characters come from and as a result I lost a whole weekend to Bit.Trip Runner, which is a pretty neat game. Also the soundtrack to Super Meat Boy is superb!

(Hi btw)

SMB is pretty awesome. I'm a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to certain games, and this one knows how to push all my buttons. I'll spend 10, 30, or 60 minutes on a level, if I have to, to get A+ and the bandage for it. I'm about 50% complete as far as all A+/bandages goes.

I heard they were releasing a level editor for the game (PC-only) soon, so I can't wait for that.

This game is pretty rad, even if I dislike the guy who made it a lot. It's a pretty solid game. Frustrating as hell, but in a good way.

No he's just a bit of a douche. He's made big youtube rants basically saying "If you can't make games, you can't criticise mine" and other crap like that.
