I had some psygnosis games for my atari ST back in the day, or A day anyway, and they were all awesome and they all had some sweet voice synthesis "PSYGNOSIS PRESENTS" over their weird bird face logo, I remember that especially

this is great. there's some very nice pictures (keith moon and oliver reed!) and then you get to something crazy like KATHERINE HEPBURN SKATEBOARDING or MARILYN MONROE ATTACKED BY A STUFFED BEAR

edit: NANCY REAGAN SITTING ON MR. T'S KNEE, WHO IS DRESSED LIKE FATHER CHRISTMAS
robert plant with ice cream all over his face, shirtless einstein in his lawn chair and winston churchill taking a swim take the cake for me.

BREAKING GAME/POPMUSIC AXIS NEWS:

- pilotwings 64 soundtrack actually just midi version of theme from 'robins nest'

- water level music in mario 64 found to be taken from kate bush demo tape

- donna summer secret composer of f-zero credits music

also while it has not yet been confirmed there remain consistent rumours that u. roy's "wet vision" contains clues to a secret musical underground of bbc radiophonic, 90s gamemusics and ridiculously sloppy reggae music.... scientists urge to remain calm in light of these strange new developments... further links remain unconfirmed but a rumours of a secret trojan records clique masterminding the Grange Hill theme have been denied by all authorities.....

ps: ending screen of the c64 ghostbusters game:

i dont know anything about the game but it looks like some amazing cross between business sim / WALL STREET KID and a spooky occult ghost dimension. it also got me watching some other good movie-to-game adaptations:

Short Circuit for the c64. the level 1 music is the most unsettling i've ever heard.

Return Of The Jedi for amiga. everything about this is really good but i especially like  the awkward-looking spaceships that suddenly lurch across the screen when you pick a difficulty level and the fantastic crashing-bike sound effects.

the guardian are showing a load of pictures from this famous childrens illustrator. i really like it

check out young inferno (dante's inferno for kids) which is the last picture in the set. i think if i had any artistic ability i would solely draw things like that.

I've heard of Satoshi Kitamura before but I thought he was some hipster thing

I love that picture with just the bird

I imagine he's one of those Japanthings that Earthbound was influenced by/not just made in some creative vacuum. I hear second part of Magicant theme playing looking at that attic book

I can imagine he's one of those artists that adults' inner childs like better more than actual children

water theme from mario 64 is a certain instrument on some Yamaha keyboard, the preset sounds pretty much identical

The Ghostbusters game is by David Crane. It embraces the mercenary nature of the Ghostbusters and it's all about starting your own Ghostbusters franchise with a bank loan to cover your starting costs. You go into the SHOP screens and you build your ECTO-1 by picking one of three cars and adding gear like "GHOST VACUUM" and "GHOST BAIT" (which looks like a tin of cat food. I think was called "GHOST FOOD" in the Famicom version. The first or second website I ever had was named after that. "GHOST FOOD.")
I still have no idea how to play the thing, though I haven't tried in many years. You drive around the map and try to catch ghosts for money so you can buy more upgrades and eventually climb up the tower to fight Zuul. All of the versions are difficult but NES version is basically completely broken.
I love the game because it understands that Ghostbusters is about guys running a business and takes that premise to a logical step forward. Ghostbusters II failed because it tried to clone the first film without understanding things that made it work.

I took a peek inside the Young Inferno book- cool.
Everyone has the right to be himself; wise men know how to,when, and whether to navigate the boundary between their rights and those of others when they collide.

English translation of "TAO," the coolest JRPG I've seen in a long time
http://www.boojumsnark.com/tao.html
http://www.romhacking.net/trans/1603/

Quick ROM link in this article about the developer, VAP: http://www.aquinhasa.com/lonely/?p=665#more-665 (These guys sound cool. I'm gonna have to see what the hell that tomato game is.)

I've only had time to poke around in TAO for a couple minutes but I really dig the vibe. (It helps that it does the thing I love where you shift to a different screen for dialog/examining things.)

Russian Peasant Uprising 2 pits the player as an 11th century Kievan nobleman facing a massive peasant rebellion. The object of the game is to destroy as many Russian peasants as possible before time runs out. The player navigates his dump truck through an obstacle course, collecting power-ups that make his engine louder. Additionally, the only obstacles are frail, Slavic peasants that do not impede the player's movement. After the player achieves the maximum score, Zlatco, the main antagonist, is reminded of his duties as a loyal serf and returns to a quiet life at the gum wrapping facility. He and four generations of his family are later eradicated for playing gypsy instruments in public.
