what the fuck is going on in jet set willy's cover?

after examining it for nigh on 2 minutes I am 60% sure that it's a dude who, while drinking Green Bottle booze, tagged the wall of the restroom, and one assumes, was immediately struck with an overwhelming sense of guilt, as is proper. as an act of penitence, he now stuffs his head in a toilet while pulling up the cistern with his right hand for leverage to enable a deeper dunk. in the process of his unsanitary baptism, he has twisted his ankles into grotesque angles, perhaps in part because he has lost his footing to the black sludge beneath his right heel. a trout (penguin?) looks on from the doorway.
 
an evocative piece, it asks you to consider... are you jet sets willy,  or are you a trout (penguin)?  only in playing the game can you ever know.

ha I love that jet set willy box and its scuzzy airbrush fuzz and disregard for a hierarchy of detail

jet set willy is reactionary propaganda about the dangers of new money & upward social mobility

i never paid attention to jet set willy cause i always assumed it was trite but it's actually extremely awesome and dumptopic-y for being one of the more famous, genre-defining games. in fact i'm kind of stunned by how fucked-up it is - you can't even beat it without patches because it will naturally send one specific object in the gameworld flying off of the screen, into its code, and corrupt itself into an unbeatable state. everyone i've seen talk about the game is like "oh yeah i had a blast exploring that mansion for my entire childhood and i've never even finished half the rooms", and that's usually a sign for me that the game is worth spending time on

Oh, Natch..... I guess I'n just not inclined to Fine Arts. I look ath this piece and she myself,. as the man, now forever frozen in an instant of gastro- spastic regret. Video games hold all the important truths like always.
