I THINK this was posted ages ago but it's totally worth a repost.

I love how hard they are trying so hard to act like what they are showing off is not obscene

am I a bad person for not liking Steven Universe

i dunno it annoys me in the sense like it acts like it KNOWS ME mang

my childhood was at least 5% stuff other than jrpg tropes. also the soundtrack is like, it /is/ BGM to an extent it's kind of frightening, the product of long nights taking cliff notes of various SNES/anime soundtracks on youtube. college professor invents course on the cultural impact of JRPG chord progressions on popular music in 2016

imo amazing world of gumball reflects my childhood better which is weird because it's partially made in the UK. also weird because it looks like a trip on all the drugs

or is it on purpose and steven universe is supposed to be an unlikeable future neckbeard

or it's like, they played Earthbound but on an emulator when they were 20. I played/beat Earthbound when it came out dude, I WAS THERE MAN

yo I played earthbound when it came out too and I was a kid. the scene with poo on the mountain was traumatic.

I like SU a ton, but Clarence is a better rep of my childhood and the experience of being a kid in general.

I like gumball too, but it's annoying a lot. too much yelling. some of it's kinda childhoodesque, but there's too much youtube and smart phones generation-garbage stuff

yeah it's hit or miss just saying when it's good it's p good

also as far as too much youtube it is weird but I think they're going for sort of idealized version of childhood with no regard to what generation's childhood it is. Like for some reason youtube exists but video games are still stuck in 16-bit era. like whatever stuf they thought was best about every decade fuck incongruity/anachroncity

funny thing is my nephew, like my bro can't afford/is too worried nephew would break a playstation 4 or whatever, so it's this weird incongruity where he's playing my old super nintendo and/or emulators on an HDTV. tried to get him to watch pete and pete reruns on youtube but he thought it was boring. he likes earthbound a lot though although he never got to said Poo on the mountain scene/other traumatic scenes. Sometimes the games won't save either, surprised some still save at all. I thought lithium batteries were only supposed to last like 20 years or less

what gumball needs is like old internet/computer stuff even though youtube exists for some reason? Like no call of duty etc. he plays original counter-strike like a boss/random shareware

I don't like Steven Universe. When I first heard about it I was annoyed because pattern-naming characters like that and giving them the ability to fuse is such a natural, intuitive gimmick, but I didn't like the designs, and now nothing else can use the gem thing without SU as a reference.

I played Earthbound on an emulator when I was 12 so my authenticity of experience is in between Ragnar's and Ragnar's hypothetical johnny-come-lately's.

I can't get over that they named a Grinch sequel "Halloween is Grinch Night"

Quote
Inside the wagon, Euchariah is confronted by surreal imagery, numerous monsters and the Grinch's mocking voice. Although he is scared out of his wits, Euchariah bravely keeps on his toes long enough for the Sour-Sweet Wind to die down, thus forcing the Grinch to pack up and retire to his cave. Max on the other hand, who had been abused and overworked by the Grinch, goes home with Euchariah. Back in Whoville, the residents (including Euchariah's grandfather Josiah and his grandmother Mariah) celebrate the little Who's courage in preventing the Grinch from releasing the Paraphernalia Wagon's full horrors on their town and up in the mountains the Grinch, who is hauling the wagon home himself, ominously notes that one day there will be another Grinch Night when the Sour-Sweet Wind blows once more.

foundchart.tumblr.com is really good

edit: I really love this one

I thought it was total nonsense but apparently it's the framework for a very sensible, frequently used dance notation (!)
