crucial entry in list of "games where you can die almost instantly upon starting a new game". bonus FMVs regularly interrupting gameplay and layering over one another

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OHhgjKaLHJw

Also 2:55 ish where the player opens a door and is confronted by a dream scene with cutout soldiers hunched behind pillars slowly sending plasma orbs while extremely introspective and mysterious planet background music plays. that track which starts at 2:30ish has the same potion bottle/fantasy dream feel as these tracks

and the death theme from the cheap rogue clone FATE, i will upload to yt soon
& the intro to this

^ awwww yeahhhhh it was surprising to see that, i watch ytps almost every day now. the KotH ones by aliantos are all like that but you picked by far the best. this one too
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CoF42UppkI4
always wanted to write some huge monograph about ytps because they're soo good (i laugh harder watching adventures of sonic the hedgehog-based ytps than pretty much anything else on the planet) and as a medium - i think they count as a medium? based around a unique level of engagement between the viewer and the content? - pretty interesting and easily written off. theres been some seriously AMAZING conceptual stuff done with surprisingly low tech methods

those are some skilled ytps. I like when ytps develop their own language, but I don't like when they become imitation or derivation. there is a fine line between being part of the ytp lexi aand just imitating durhamrockerz or whos the big name for the moment/specific show or genre. thx4r

Summoning? cards featuring the seals of goetic demons, from 'The Emerald Tablet' fantasy war gaming rules, 1977

Quote

The rules "comprehensiveness" is readily apparent: almost every aspect of any epic fantasy battle in any story ever published in any century is covered. Really. Behold a random sampling from the rules' index:
  • Ceremonial Magic
  • Bombards
  • Metamorphoids
  • Sacrificial Victims
  • Chariots
  • Oblique movement of self-disciplined units
  • Rules for innate chi projection
  • Killing rampaging large mounts
  • Infernal Engine Disadvantages
  • Unconscious and mad magic users
  • Aerial unit fatigue
  • "Goetic Magic Hour Correspondence Charts"
  • Effects of routing units on dray animals
  • Klipothic and Beneficient Magic
The rules' color text claims that the magic system "is based on the actual grimoires (magical texts) that guided medieval European thaumaturges (workers of miracles)." Cardstock sheets are designed to be cut into individual spell cards marked with "evocation circles, mystical symbols, demons and angels that have been familiar to magic users for centuries." It is hard to judge the historical accuracy of such statements, but the book is packed with so many spell charts, Astral Force cards, magic critical fail results, and the affects of "High Magic Color" rules that Merlin would probably sell his left one for just one peek at the last 30 pages of the book.

Sandy Cheeks, the cartoon squirrel, after shedding fat by bathing in a magical tub: At long last, this wretched nightmare is over. What do you want to do now that this insufferable indignity is at an end?

Sumo Tag Team page 8 (nsfw for tiny cartoon butts)
It's pretty much just a totally typical inflation comic from deviantart but idk I find the super existential dialogue hilarious

Daisy Duck: Fuck my life!
Daisy Duck: The only thing keeping me going is the fact that I have sunk even lower before.
Sumo Tag Team page 5

And how the characters themselves think that the whole thing is stupid and unpleasant - on the first page Minnie Mouse begs the author for this to be the last story they have to put up with, and every single character looks constantly bored and exhausted - This sort of self-awareness is reasonably common in fetish comics but combined with the dinky little characters and their totally defeated hangdog expressions and eloquent verbiage it just seems particularly funny to me. thanks for reading

Vengaboys rules

If you were wondering, I'm pretty certain this is the best particle simulator in existence.

Just look at those options! You really have to check this out.

i really love particle simulators and searched for them for years after stumbling across the first one somewhere. it always seemed so perfect to me that prototypical videogame elements like "vine" and "acid" were included along with the more canonical ones. also that you could drop little guys around inside the level but basically just for roleplaying purposes / messy death traps rather than fulfilling any specific aims.

did you all know vasily zotov is still making games? i found out today: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCVgeihkvfpJ8Hp6mfjCzRLg i am glad. his last one i remember was an allegorical battle against the us immigration system but these seem more positive maybe. i wish him well and still think the ultramodular disconnected playpen approach to narrative scenarios is really cool and exciting.

That's really cool and makes me feel relieved. To hear it from him, he could be abducted and disappear forever at any moment.

I'm guessing the commentary is horrible but with sound muted the games look quite good

I love this computer-assisted youtube singularity conversation on the last page or so. I have a theory that instead of there existing alternate worlds and universes with every permutation of every possible thing, we live on a world with enough automata, be they humans or cells or atoms, to create every possible thing cultural or societal or physical. Like how chess is this small, self-contained thing that can produce more game combinations than there are atoms in the universe: the world and its parasitic hairless apes are like that. And maybe it's not everything, but close enough. The way that you know about 1.6382 if you already know 1.6381 and 1.6383, that's the way we know about all the Elsa and Spider-Man permutations.

I love the irony of the writer of "Mastaba Snoopy" writing cultural commentary about this Spider-Man and Elsa inspired symbiosis between landfill human cultural production and landfill computer cultural production, since clearly the end result is huge swathes of art and culture being mindlessly automated by sophisticated yet terrible AI, and this latter situation would not be an unreasonable gloss of "Mastaba Snoopy."

Btw I'm not saying that people shouldn't mourn Prince or should stop feeling things from reading the internet or whatever, but bonzi buddy's post about people being addicted to narratives and psychodramas and tapping into the internet to cry and be outraged/thrilled by suffering Syrian refugees, Trump, "Formation" &c. was really insightful. I, too, am addicted to narrative.

p.s. I think I have that particle simulator on my phone?
