the first track in this is making me vaguely feel like I am having a panic attack. I feel like I've heard this weird kind of frenetic "new agey" soundtrack on some kind of early CD Rom game
James Ferraro is the only person in the world that I know about who is capable of creating this level of New Age CD-ROM edutainment software intro vibe, even more amazing that he does it through the lens of inhuman drugged out drone vibe. and he has like a billion albums with weirder permutations on this same trash fascination, like iAsia, "Hawaiian bodybuilder" music, Citrac the soundtrack for some post-apocalyptic sci fi movie that doesn't exist, or Hacker Track:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zhVKTTITIfEOf course most of his stuff is way too boring to actually listen to all the way. I just cut in and out for a few minutes and enjoy the track titles and cover art. Those alone are enough to make him one of my favorite art dudes. Know he's CAPABLE of writing compelling songs, like the ones on Night Dolls With Hairspray that I posted in here earlier. But the essence of ferraro is in the little moments of ridiculous brilliance: Almost half an hour into Hacker Track, the THX surround sound sfx starts playing - over and over again.
I would say JF is easily the most well-known and popular artist who understands salt aesthetic, so it's really a colossal shame that he abandoned that style and everyone completely fucking forgot about it!!!!! Now he just does this modernist iPad debussy bullshit which is interesting from a critique standpoint but which I personally have zero stock in!!!!
