I'm planning a multi-community awards ceremony.

I'm sure... some... of you still make games :p

A while back RMNET did the Misaos, which went ok, but they were biased towards RMNET and got most of the games from there as it was hosted on their forums and required people to register there.

What I am proposing is an automated system, not affiliated with or hosted on any of the RM* websites which will feature as many RM  (well, similar sites to this rather, not just RM), sites as possible. I'm talking trying to get everybody possible out there to take part.

I can make and host the system, I've done it before with a one-site system and it went pretty well. All I need is interested websites to take part. From me you'd get a link to your site on the awards website, and the chance for your members to win. It would be a public vote. From you I expect a topic discussing the awards and a link to the awards and for you to encourage entry into them, should you accept.

This will be non-profit and not ad supported.

What do you think? An interesting prospect?

The awards would probably take place around June when game making picks up but could be any time really.

Sounds interesting, but I hope it would be for something else than RM games and open to more "complex" game making platforms.
Not that I personally make games but I hope to see this community move forward and beyond the same RM thing that has been going on for 7-8 years.

Well, the aim was to get all the RM sites together since we're a niche scene, but all engines would be allowed. There are lots of more important indie games sites than the RM ones you see and they already have awards and such. This is meant to be a sort of intermediary step between "lol rmxp.org awards 2008" and "lol minecraft" I guess.

I would imagine RM games would be unlikely to win anyway but they can still enter.

So far there are two "large" sites interested.

(I know you aren't necessarily "an RM site" but neither are hbgames but we still sortof fit into that scene etc)

Currently it looks like RRR, HBGames, RMRK and Chaos Proj so far.

Interesting, I really would love to see the RM thing break and just consider indie gaming as a whole but then again, there are already tons of site available for indie as a game. Still, I don't know, the population of rm users, doesn't seem to decrease too much yet so I think this is still a good idea.

Yeah. I guess it's more "an awards ceremony for associated sites born out of the RPG maker craze" than "RPG Maker sites". All games would be accepted, but like you say, there are already better sites for indie games.

I don't have the time to even attempt to make games, but I know there is still an interest here, and I think this would be an opportunity to get the SaltW name out there.  However, I'm not sure what the community's attitude is on RPGMaker, considering the recent rebranding.  Seemed like there was a desire to move on from an RM focus (which these other competitors seem to have) to something different. Not to say there aren't creative RM games here (Space Funeral, Riot Grrl [not ][/not]).  I'm fairly neutral about the idea, and would certainly have an interest in the awards and associated games, but you'd probably have to talk to some of the decision makers around here about involving SW as a community.

TL;DR: Not sure what the community focus is anymore.

Honestly the focus right now seems to be on SW's very role and existence- whether it can continue to serve as a way of bringing the members of different groups together and how so.
Everyone has the right to be himself; wise men know how to,when, and whether to navigate the boundary between their rights and those of others when they collide.

Judgment, in regard to RIFT Platinum laws, rules, and regulations, is in place in an effort to
restore balance when an buy cheap RIFT Platinum action creates too great a contrast; that is, exceeds an
acceptable level of contrast RIFT Platinum and impacts others in a negative way or has the potential to do
so. Nearly seven billion people RIFT Gold on the planet have been exposed to different cultures and
beliefs, as well as have unique buy cheap RIFT gold personalities, so will, understandably, find it a
challenge to behave as a homogenous RIFT power leveling society. Contrasts will happen. The important
missing aspect is that judgment of RIFT powerleveling the self, others, or a situation is like a neon

This is a fantastic idea, it'd be nice to see something productive that was really encouraging game creation again.

Like even though the community focus isn't EXCLUSIVELY game creation (which is like HERESY, but the apostates won OMG!!), it's still a feature. I mean after all, art is art right? So yeah, only positive things really. Go for it dude. I hope you're able to get some of the other sites on board.

PS: Whoa, what's this RIFT gold and platinum stuff I keep hearing about? I mean, it's not really relevant, but I'm always up for saving a quick buck with something that's exposed to different cultures and beliefs, as well as having the unique buy cheap personality!!!
Hey hey hey

This is a cool idea. I don't know how well it'd do here, but since it's a multi-site award it might go over well.
