Originally created in just four hours for a Poppenkast competition, Zeldalike RPG 'Bat Castle' had much more potential potential then four hours could ever allow realization. So I have spent this past week finishing what I started. I haven't gone into work, I haven't gone to class, I've just been working on Batt Castle. I haven't left the studio this entire week.

Honestly I am glad to be done with this project. I've been feeling extremely uneasy ever since I started on Bat Cassle. Just an intense dread standing over me, 24/7. I haven't been able to enjoy doing anything else since I first created the file. Trying to sleep was ridiculous - I felt like a little kid, scared of the dark. The game just has such a dismal aura. I don't know if this is because of how I felt or I felt that way from working on the game. Either way it has been hell. Sorry, just needed to vent some.

But that's all over. Testers are finding the final bugs as I type this and the file should be available for download later tonight/tomorrow morning. Personally I won't be sticking around for it, I've got plenty of sleep to catch up on! :coffee:

this looks amazing dude. i played a little bit but can't get past the first ghost, i tried using ghost drank on the basis that to fight ghost you must become ghost ~ confucious but he keeps dodging my attacks and killing me. i really love the sound+language in it as well as the graphics so i'll keep going.

I know it's probably some cool unique artistic style dealie that I just don't get, but I can't play a game that looks like this, headaches all over.

It is not the low res styled maps that I take offense with, but rather the fact that they are paired off against dialogue boxes that use such a high resolution font.

Just watching the contrast is a jarring effect, and if 'talking to people' is something that is important to completing your game then I don't think I could ever complete it for that reason alone.

Also don't call it zeldalike. You use all the rpgmaker elements, so you can't just call something 'zeldalike' and expect people to ignore the fact that it's just another rpgmaker game just because there is a tiny bit more emphasis on exploration than your average rpgmaker game. Did you think it is 'zeldalike' in the sense that you have a character that goes across different types of maps involving tiles? Because in case you didn't know, a lot of games involve that, most of which are nothing like zelda (except in that one way).
