core rappers is subjective. sole rules. 'white people rap' is a lot of rap. in your pickup truck. at the club. who do you think buys all the rap??? it's you!!! the white consumer creates the image of blackness.

n.w.a. is great and anyone you ask about rap can tell you about n.w.a. but i wanted to mention the acts that are big in my mind because they're how i started listening to rap and how i still listen to it. i was born after the release of straight outta compton. on the other side of the world. i started listening to rap in my late teens. i started with sage francis. what i've listened to reflects that. keep that GOSH DARN PALE ASS BACKPACKERS FFF (IM WHITE TOO) shit to the blog comments.
i'll keep it right here thankyou.

All you need is big wax!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qVi6nADuS9c << Live version of Adventures Of Larry and Tina. This song sounds better live, but if you want the actual music video then >> http://youtu.be/jnUqCIH8u40

one of my favourite freestyles by him >> http://youtu.be/_7TPcGksW5M

A really old freestyle by him > hes a little tipsy in this but he's lyrically talented http://youtu.be/a8qzeRvvakU

When I first heard of wax, I judged him just by looking at him. Didn't think he was good at all, until I listened to the lyrics. Dont get me wrong im not sucking up to him, I could post other rappers but many have been mentioned already that I'd recommend.

this is also a good documentary to watch, it's a little long and unnecessary at parts but a really good overview of the history of hiphop and has tons of great artists interviewed

I like: (bolded being my favorites, check those first)

hed(pe) (Rap-Rock, they are a little bit conspiracy nutty)
Cage (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mm6cAb72u2Y, kind of moved away from rap to more rap-rock-pop mix in his 2nd and 3rd albums still good though.)
Afroman
Mickey Avalon
Tech N9ne
Jay-Z
A Tribe Called Quest
Big Tymer
Brotha Lynch Hung
Busta Rhymes
Celph Titled
Chamillionaire
Cypress Hill
House of Pain
Devin The Dude
Dr. Dre
Ghostface Killah
Gorillaz (Yeah I know they aren't all rap, in fact mostly rock)
Jedi Mind Tricks
Jurassic 5
Lil Wayne
Ludacris
Lupe Fiasco
Mystikal
Nappy Roots
Necro
Old Dirty Bastard
Outkast (more R&B then rap... well I guess all R&B)
Redman
The RZA
Three 6 Mafia
Trick Daddy

Underground/Unique: (seriously Check these out)
Z-man (really good stuff, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lAqBfnBGtHE)
Apathy (decent underground, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5dM20oteVGM)
Motion Man (fucking excellent, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cQE0CPtOQSQ)

Which is the only rapper I like that I think I haven't seen here already. I'll also admit to liking some Eminem, though I heard his most recent stuff sucks (I haven't heard it). I liked when he was doing D12 stuff.

I also Listen to the Parappa The Rapper (first one) Soundtrack. lol...

elephant swag. trunk bumpin jams.
listen to memoirs of the elephant man.

the vocal styles in dirty south (busdriver song unrelated) are typically really good in my (limited) experience. definitely optimal for trunk bumping.

oh also i don't like this stuff and i think it needs to go in this thread
