Why would you want to upgrade in the first place? That 5850 is sufficient for pretty much any task. I don't think you'll get your money's worth out of crossfire since performance is highly dependant on drivers and sometimes you get no performance benefit or even negative performance with such a setup.

I'd be lying if i said anything other then wanting to experiance games that i enjoy at max graphics; I want to play Skyrim at max settings and since it doesn't have DX11 out the box it won't have all those nice efficency updates that it has so the only way to play it at max is a new card. But i do agree, the 5850 is agood card, i can play crysis 2 at decent settings and at one point play crysis one at max, (for some reason it can't now, but could before)

That un balnce thing you where talking about is called the bottle neck efect. are you still useing the same mobo as before? also is both slots 16x if one is 8x it will just slow you down also there is not much difference from the card you have I hear the 6000 cards are monsters that can even play crysis (the first game) to it's fullest

I say go for the newer ones for the best results. crossfire helps little bit but I relly think crossfireing are for those neards that have the best (at the moment) cards and are looking to squeeze the last little bit of power by adding the same card to there system.
