what's facebook. i haven't heard of it before

wayn is too close to wayne, and i keep thinking this topic is about me.

I get pretty much nothing out of it other than getting to immediately discount every person I meet and add/get added by on it because their favourite tv shows are big bang theory two and a half men and other horrible dumb crap like that I don't even want to know, at least not yet. I get a spell of the friendlies every couple of weeks and think this is week you meet A Person That Looks Like I Could Be A Best Friend With and then I just think ahhh to heck.

I don't think it's a smart way to judge people but it's always so...

I get nothing out of it. Online probably blows, I don't even know what real life is like. I can't remember the last time I met a person and got to base my opinions of them solely on my interactions with them. Coming to a place like this is different, because I'd never meet any of you in real life otherwise, and this is where I found the peak of guys I can get along with and relate to and am interested in so far. oh hey I joined here when I was 13. Coming up on a golden decade soon cos I'm 22 now. Maybe I want to keep real life real life and the internet the internet and not dilute the two with one another with the exception of the weird nerd misanthropes with a heart of gold that I wouldn't have met otherwise.

I recently deleted my Facebook acount. It was easily one  of the best life decisions I've made in a while.

I just let it sit there and I get emails if someone sends me something. I really dislike keeping in touch with people I actually know with an online interface like that

i mostly use it to post random political/hawkwind related things,or when organising drinkups with friends. It baffles me how people can sit there for 5 hours doing nothing but facebook

If I want to put up a mini website that helps people who already know me to keep in touch with me and my recent escapades, then I'd just make the damned site myself. Or if I was too lazy for that much, I would do the thing that makes the most sense to anyone and just start a blog.

That way, I can at least be secure knowing that if someone who does not have a facebook account wants to view my site, then they will actually be able to. (Really, it's the friends that don't have facebook accounts that are the only people I care about getting in touch with anyhow.)

facebook is a panopticon for your smartphone.

facebook is a good way to keep in touch with friends and know what's happening in your social circles so you can just pick and choose what thing you want to go to on a whim instead of having to be invited in person/on the phone and feel all weird about cancelling when something you give a shit about comes up

now i see a little red notification for "daryl's birithday party" and i'm all "heh, more like daryl's MAYBE party"
